Problem is that boxing promoters are still making money somehow serving this cr@p.... We should boycott all sub standard fights... I.E. Fury vs Chisora and similair.... And vote with our feet and wallets.... Only then will they care.... If fights like that are happening in empty stadiums they will maybe take not.....
Boxing isn't dead, good fights happen on the regular. The complaint I have is if there was just a little more organization and regulation then fights between top fighters and less mismatches could happen regularly
Agreed. Even the breath of fresh air Jake Paul is moving to MMA cause he realised Boxing is not it. BORING bum fights that no one cares about. is there even one fight scheduled which is exciting?
With all these uneven match ups and teams guarding their opponents against real threats, do you feel as if boxing is on the decline more than ever?
2023 is actually one of the better years recently in terms of big fights being made. That being said I generally agree that boxing is bleeding numbers overall.
Youtubers are the sports biggest draw. Yes it is sad. Who are your superstars under 30? Tank? Sorry, as fun as he is, a guy that tiny isn't gonna carry boxing. Guys like Spence, Crawford, Keef Thurman, the Charlos, etc were all supposed to be superstars but none of them really fought anyone outside Showtime Shawn
Well, yeah. It was bad enough when it was title proliferation and screw jobs, but these guys just don't fight anymore.
Yeah in the technology age if you are only fighting once a year, no one is going to remember you. Guys like SRR fought every week so it is much easier for a fan to create a connection with a fighter. Just my opinion of course.
Until Boxing sorts its **** out regarding the management and administration of the sport, it will continue to struggle. The responsibility for this lies squarely with the promoters, TV companies and boxing organisations. You don’t get the number 1 of any sport deciding they won’t face the consensus number 2 this year, next year, or in the next 3 years. That really rankles especially at HW.
Back when young and watched boxing, top fighters would fight several times a year. My thinking is that would benefit everyone in the business. But they hold back from letting the good fights happen. Why? I just dont understand. Its ruining the sport and they continue to try to guard all good fighters.
Too much PPV has killed boxing for the casuals and mainstream sports viewers. Its been a slow but steady 20-25 year decline with the final nail in the coffin being the social media ****wits taking the lions share of the casual PPV money over the last couple of years. Has any real boxer outside the heavies earned more than Jake Paul from fighting in the last 2 years?
