Not me just was at the Crawford Lundy fight and it was a ton of fun. I'm looking forward to all the match ups we got coming up this is going to be a great year for boxing !!
You are right there are no real mega stars after pacquiao/mayweather era yet. Loma is set to take pacquiaos place with his style etc. Rigo doubt he will become a star. Too old and too little top level fights. Golovkin will struggle against bigger foes. No one really stands out at 140/147. Oddly though HWs are fast becoming interesting with the Wlad loss and lots of good prospects coming through. Aj, Parker, Hughie etc are all good. Champs or near champ you have wilder, fury, pov, wlad still in the mix.
Yeah, at least we have Thurman vs Por... hey wait... euh... damn! But at least we are past the annoying Floyd and Pac era like CST mentioned.
Add that to the fact that the Klitschko era is over as well....... Yes, the hot potato game is always more exciting to see who'll end up dropping it, but for many, watching one player dominate it is just as, if not MORE interesting. It's been a great 15 yrs or so.:good
Nope, Heavyweights are heating up and post Mayweather/Klitschko things are looking up. I wasn't even following boxing that closely from 2010 until last year, that was a bad era, but things are improving a lot.
Everything has been a let down to me concerning combat sports. McGregor-Dos Anjos off, facing some fake cholo who sounds like Walter White Jr at WW Thurman-Porter off Verdejo vs that Brazilian prospect.. **** fight Frampton-Quigg.. **** fight Crawford-Lundy mismatch Seriously, only decent fight in the horizon is Sullivan-Barrera... and that fight has a 70% chance to be a snoozer. Don't care for Broner-Theophane, Brook vs a tomato can or Rigo vs a euro level opponent. Don't care for Ortiz vs a shot to **** 70 year old Thompson either.
Good fights to be made but they're not happening that's the problem. So far 2016 has been disappointing.
Nope you're right....I grew up watching Floyd, B-Hop, ODH, Tyson, Holy, Lewis , etc... This new crop just isnt holdin it down for me
Wait, Thurman / Porter is off? I've been out of the country for 2 weeks without proper internet access and the fight gets cancelled. That's just great.
I've felt like this for a while. Once all the marquee names of the late 90's/ early millenium started getting shot or retiring, i really started losing interest. I know there are good fighters out there, I'm just not as interested in them. I think this is how all those old timers get stuck in an era and assume that their era of fighters beat all the modern greats.
