too many overhyped/unknown/boring fighters. action fighters are not fighting enough. networks are not putting enough/consistent quality matchups to sustain my interest.
Boxing is better now than it has ever been. It's a more global sport now with talented fighters outside of USA, Mexico and PR taking over. People who complain that it's boring are mostly Americans because they don't have many legit boxers in the moment. I'm really glad that the ****ty Floyd-Pac era is over. The best thing is that divisions from 160 up are finally getting more attention and great boxers like Kovalev and GGG are the biggest stars now. 175, 200 and HW divisions are stacked and there are exciting prospects and fights ahead of us.
I'm excited about a lot of fighters out there, but I'm underwhelmed about the fights that are getting made.
Not a lot of marquee match ups, but loads of talent around at most weight classes. I'm loving the sub lightweights atm personally. Mega fights are great n all, but sometimes it's better watching potential greatness reveal itself, rather than legends on the way down. ATGs were all prospects at some point.
AJ vs Martin Loma vs Walters Canelo vs Khan Ward vs Barrera Just had Crawford Lundy Frampton vs Quigg If boxing doesn't excite you right now you should watch something else !
I was turned off a while back and then transferred with my job to So. America for four years so I lost touch with Boxing. Just got tired of the ducking and one year title defenses! Boxing could be better...just don't think Arum is helping it any. I spoke with Don King recently and he doesn't really care much....he's made his...!
It could be a lot better if the big fights got made. Seem's to be a trend of Black Boxers causing more harm than good, IMO. You've got Crawford fighting midgets, Ward won't go near the best, Stevenson is the same, Mayweather abuses the sport... these are huge names as well. Compare that to Kovalev, Golovkin, Wlad, Loma - They fight everybody and anybody. Champions are afraid to fight top 5 contenders, too. Garcia is fighting past-prime fighters and is shook to fight a live body, Brook is fighting mandatories and always seem's to get miraculously injured when not lined up against one, Frampton won't go near Rigo, Canelo is demanding everyone fight for the MW belt at 154! Seem's to be a time of chess/cautiousness, and it's killing the sport.
Loma vs Walters is a fantastic fight. Lomachenko now that he's faced Russel and Walters (about to) is the modern king of big time matchups. Canelo vs Khan is overrated. Canelo is an overrated no stamina having fake MW who's ducking the best fighter in his division to fight a glass jawed Welterweight. Nah. Ward vs Barrera has the potential to be a good fight. Will be interesting to see if Barrera is hype or really a good fighter. Also hard to get excited for a Ward fight as he's boring. Frampton and Quigg was a snoozer. Nah, not feeling that one.
Yep. Have little or no interest in it for whatever reason particularly the domestic scene. The heavyweight scene is bubbling but even the fight that started the shift was poor.
