Seeing the boxing kangaroo earlier prompted me on this..

Why are we Australians not good at boxing, though we have this symbol?

You'd think our rough & ready attitude would make us great boxers.
We're so good in sports generally
We have good facilities minds & trainers etc for it

but we still use that as a symbol??
    :huh

Obviously Kangeroos have been known the box in the wild.

I think its just a symbol of our competitive attitude and fighting spirit when it comes to sports of all kinds.

I often wondered why England has the lion as its national symbol and there aint no lions there.
Except the ones Kate Moss snorts :admin

We are good at boxing when you take into account our small population compared to the other boxing super powers like the US, UK and Europe.

The Kangaroo is our national symbol. Its on the Coat or Arms with the Emu so it's looked on as one of our national animals unique to Australia. As mentioned Kangaroos box each other in the wild and there have also been some people put gloves on them and box them as well ( though they usually get grabed and kicked and clawed in the guts) So when you are playing another nation in any sport it is sometimes referred to as going into battle. or the expression we will have a fight on our hands in this match so it was a logical progression nothing to do with the sport of boxing I think the first time it was used was 1983 in a boat race.
Also agree with Muttley for our population we have a pretty good percentage of world rated boxers

Because boxing has very little exposure in Australia. I don't think we have the depth of fighters or trainers needed to be successful either, as boxing is an extremely technical sport. Even bearing that in mind, i have seen statistics that show us to be one of the strongest boxing nations in terms of champions : Population. Stronger then the US even. Which also plays a massive part.

Your attempts at winding people up are pathetic. You = Barge FTA wannabe. At least he creates interest with his posts. You're virtually insignificant. You know you're a failure when you can't even succeed at being a loser. Back to the drawing board buddy.
