Boxing knowledge is dangerous...

Even Bernard Hopkins has ignored the simple child-like logic that could have saved him from the worst night of his career. Still though, he'll take a nice pay-check and will be able to enjoy his retirement.

Anyway. If everyone on this board had zero boxing knowledge they would all pick Calzaghe, based on the age difference and they would all be right. This fight will demonstrate that boxing knowledge applied out of context and where it is irrelevant is useless.

The only reason Joe Calzaghe is not considered the best fighter of all time is boxing knowledge. Simple logic tells us he is. I sincerely hope you all realise this on Sunday.

Great post; flawless logic.

Many of the greats in boxing have been unorthodox and its this ability to think & fight this way when needed that seperates them from good fighters.

hopkins is no normal 43 yr old fighter, if you think calzaghe is great fighter then you have to atleast admit hopkins is a great fighter.why would joe leave his home for anything less :huh

True, but their counter punching ability would need to be equal. In this case, they are not. Calzaghe is better with his workrate. But he isn't as good of a counter puncher and can't do it from as many angles as Hopkins.
