Today, the 11th of April....dawns a new reality of boxing. Today we witness fights between the best at the most 3 times a year....if we are lucky. We accept this as truth..........the very barbaric form of humanity is within us all, this is why we are drawned to the most primal of things.............violence, the physical persuit of perfection. We are caveman disguised in modern society, we have not yet reach beyond this and become overman. We see everyday other sports like soccer, tennis and basketball reach the masses beyond our own sport, they play 60, 70 or more times a year...yet we see the greatest and most basic of all sports slumped to the margins of the gutter..............pay per view tv, sporadic fights,.........does Klitshcko beat Ibrahimov all the time? How the **** do we know........we want to see these men fight 8 times, not once and say hey thats boxing. We see Federer vs Nadal 10 times We See Milan vs Juventis, Man Utd vs Barca We see the best against the best all the time except in boxing. We must as fans of the sport rebel, now.!......we must take control and demand a one world orgnisation.......to which all professional boxers sign to........for free, fighters are told who they fight and when they fight. If a champion cannot defend his title for injury, or any other situation then he is ousted. Why do we know Sugar ray was better than La Motta.......they fought 6 times. Any person who argues that fights need to be promoted, that fighters need to heal are talking with bag pulled over there faces by the elite. We need to stick togeather, for boxing has no place without its fans. Shall it ever happen?
I think if YOU were a fighter you would understand it better. They don't want to fight 3425 times a year and be dead at the age of 40. And they also want to make as much money as possible which requires proper promoting of the fight. You really can't blame them....
I think you're the one who may be losing reality if you expect fighters to sign to agree to this. And about Robinson and LaMotta fighting 6 times, hell, how do you think that happened? Through promoters, and also Robinson working his ass off at the negotiating table.
I like what your getting at, but todays world, I really dont see this happening. Back in those days fighters had to fight 9 or more times a year to feed there family, now it seems like 2 or 3 matches a year is enough. If you look back at Dempsey's career, he sometimes didnt even fight twice year, he would take long breaks from pro boxing to act or do exhibitions, because he had other avenues to make money, without getting his brains banged in 9 or 10 times a year.
We do see the best fight each other.. sometimes it might only be once, sometimes it might be a trilogy.. but a great boxer doesnt need to fight all if his best opponents six times everytime.. they would be beated and battered to death and would be retiring before they could even reach 35.. we might see the best of the best play each other in other sports, but their will always be new players added and they work together as a team.. boxing is a one-man sport.. dont need to fight one person 100 times to prove youre the best.. they'd be just about dead
I am a fighter, i box an amatuer.........putting stupid numbers up isnt going to make your point valid nor is it smart. All i mearly want is for fighters to fight at least 6 to 10 times a year. Not hard whatsoever........look at the Wald fight.......both men could have fought a month later....they didnt take damage at all. If your talking about a brutal fight lets say lewis and vital then yeah of course it takes time to heal. Its our loss. How do we know Vlad is better than Briggs> we can only speculate.........so so boring. I wish for a fighter to break the ranks. Look at Hatton picking and choosing him moments, same with Mayweather and Oscar De lay Hoya.....and we are the mugs that pay for it when we shouldnt bother as we know more meaniful fighters are out there. One sparring sessions.......about a year ago i was put down twice and had a hard time over 6 rounds. Didnt spar for a month.....still trained and got doctor to examine me......i was fine and started to spar and fought 2 weeks later. Pro boxing isnt degined properly. Im telling you guys now........look at wrestling in the 70s.. **** look at MMA..they are catching up in how prepared the atheltes are and how its organised. I fear the worst.
I see what your saying, but I really dont see fighters fighting 6-10 times a year. Alot of the belt holders already get at least 6 figures a fight, most of them see 7 figures, 3 fights is enough to fill a bank account and makes for a better chance you wont experience brain damage when you retire. I wish fighters would fight more, but there looking out for there health more now, and unlike in the old days, they dont have to fight 6 to 10 times to make ends meet.
make fights shorter? we wanna' see them go the distance.. but i wouldnt mind seeing maybe a couple more fights from each of them a year.. some are actually trying like cotto or pac who is basically setting up a schedule of people to fight..
yea pro boxing IS about money......its the point of going professional....to make money in the sport. i'm want the best to fight each other as much as anyone out there. but hey if i was them i would do the same ****. so while i don't like it i don't blame them either. if i can make millions in a fight why would i fight more than once or twice a year....fuuuuuuck that.
