What mags did you use to buy at the newstand or get in the mail? Ring World Boxing International Boxing Boxing Illustrated Others?????????
I bought every boxing magazine from 1980 to 2000. In addition I purchased a collection that covered a variety of magazines from the early 1970s to 1988 or so. Plus, over the years I picked up a number of issues of ring, from the 30s to the 50s.
boxing and wrestling 1950's 70 some issues to the set, boxing and wrestling 1960's,20 some issues to the set boxing international allstar wrestling, and a few others i got a collectio of over 5000 magazines i also bought out 3 or 4 colections from the 20's,30's,40's,50's as well bigjake
I bought Boxing Monthly, Ring, KO religiously all the way through the 90's. Plus Boxing illustrated on occasion. Today i still buy Boxing Monthly every month. Boxing News and Ring occasionally
As well as those mentioned you had Boxing 87, 88 etc as a sister magazine to KO, that was released by-monthly in cycle with World Boxing. I think it stopped when The Ring became related to KO.
What was the British Boxing Mag called???.....they referred to Lightheavies as CRUISERWEIGHTS back in the olden days.
This thread reminds me of something silly. In the early '70s, Boxing Illustrated had a column encouraging readers to send in workout questions. I sent one. About a year later, i glanced at the column and saw some guy was doing exactly what i had and had the same questions. Was anxious to see how the writer solved his problem. When i got to the end of the letter, it was signed with my name. Didn't recognize my own letter.
I used to buy Boxing news, Boxing monthly and Ring, I have a reasonably sized collection in good nick but there jusy lying round the house, should probably try and shift them really... There isnt anything in a magazine you cant find online.
