I boxed for 3 months during June,July, august. do to my work, i had to leave home and have just came back. In 2 1/2 weeks (18) days there is a amautar boxing match. is it to soon to participate in it, or is there still some time to condition? And is it worth fighting?

There will be more opportunities in the near future. Since you've only had 3 months of training and it was a while ago, I wouldn't recommend it.

    What does your coach say?

the best way to learn is to fight in my opinion

get in sparring with fighters and see if your ready

He's trained for 3 months....6 months ago. Three months isn't long enough for 90% of guys and that's if they are training at the time. He's no where near ready. He's been out of the gym twice as long as he has trained...in less than than 9 months. Advising someone to get in the ring at that point is BAD ADVICE. Yes, sparring is good, yes competing is good. BUT, he'll only benefit from that if he's ready and three months of training last summer is no where near enough to be ready for even challenging sparring.

Besides, his coach is the one who is best to judge the situation and if the coach is any good, he won't put him in.

Seems like an obvious question to ask your coach. :huh

Anyway, I personally think it's way too little time to prepare for the fight. You'll get more chances.

It takes time to learn all the right moves and more time to put them in practise. If you go into competition too soon you not only risk injury, but you will begin the process of learning how to lose.
