EDINBURGH professional middleweight Craig McEwan is so desperate for ring action that he's asked to fight one of his team-mates.

The former Clovenstone boxer, who is now based in Los Angeles, hasn't fought since November and has now pleaded with his Golden Boy management team to match him against unbeaten American prospect Daniel "The Golden Child" Jacobs in March.

Craig's father and former coach Rab McEwan said: "Craig is really champing at the bit to get back into the ring. As a result, he is planning to take up a big step in class by challenging New Yorker Daniel Jacobs, who is unbeaten as a pro and, like Craig, won a clutch of amateur titles. Jacobs is the current WBO NABO champion."

Jacobs would walk all over McEwan.

Never gonna happen, plus Jacobs has been injured so isnt going to go straight into a fight like this.

I've not seen much of McEwan but Jacobs is far from the "sure thing" that he's being touted as.

Whos brandon vera? i think you mean "brian vera" , anyways who said world title shots for mcewan? because i didnt. I just think mcewan calling out daniel jacobs is a brave thing to do and shows his intentions for 2010. barker is the same age as mcewan and in the same division so comparisons are inevitable...... who barker fights next will say alot about his intentions and where he really is at for me....
