I feel like I have gone insane or am living in some kind of parallel universe. I have watched the Kovalev/Ward 2 fight 3 times now and still cannot believe the boxing medias response to this. It seems like complete insanity in the way they are trying to whitewash over what is clearly an EXTREMELY controversial ending to a fight.

I live in Thailand and we are ruled here by a Military Junta and it is like something from a George Orwell movie at times. The powers that be tell huge lies with a completely straight face even though everyone is seeing with our own eyes completely irrefutable evidence that is completely contradictory to what we are being told. But everyone is expected to believe it and move on and and the case is closed.

No boxing media outlet or boxing journalist can afford for the truth of this absolute farce to be discussed at length. So its almost that they have individually decided to collectively report that there is no controversy here, nothing to see and everybody please move on.

The fight was irrefutably ended with a huge shot (it may be going too far to say it was intentional) to Kovelevs groin...it was hard and square and had an immediate and obvious debilitating effect. And the referee did absolutely nothing about it and clearly ended the fight way too prematurely.

Am I insane? This just seems like one of the most completely ridiculous and ludicrous episodes in modern boxing history and main stream boxing just wants to steamroll over it like nothing happened so everyone can carry on making money.

DISGUSTED with the main stream boxing media. Never will spend a penny on their publications again....absolutely pathetic. I know individuals like us will all have our own opinions and I respect that but the media should be reporting things much more honestly...they are complicit in a truly awful evening of boxing.

Sergei threw back 4-5 pucnhes compared to Wards 25-30+ powershots. He wasn't defending himself well and slumped over and sat at the ropes. No the stoppage was abit to early but I don't think it's that weird.

It was 2 low blows that fight not like 10 like some people claim. If the stoppage was abit early I don't think Sergei would have recoverd, he's known to gas and looked completley done.

    wrong answer.

sergey, at that point, the stoppage, should have in fact been allowed up to 5 minutes recovery.

If you think it was a low blow, which I don't. It was below the belt line but remember it wasn't a nutshot.

When I watched the fight live the first time I also thought Kovalev may of been gassing a bit...but watching it the 2nd and 3rd time I really don't think he was gassing out....i think the low blow right before the big shot to the chin really softened him up a lot...he DID looked gassed after that low blow before the big right hand shot.

But anyway all of that is by the buy and its not really what I am talking about here (thats already discussed in other threads)....what disgusts me is the way that the media are not even remotely entertaining the idea that there is any controversy to this ending...listen to HBO podcast and read ESPN and NY Times and LA Times and Boxing news etc....its completely outrageous....it is reported as a dominant and emphatic win for Andrew Ward with no hint of controversy when this is in fact HUGELY controversial.

See, there we go...are you insane? have you watched the low blow video with Tony Weeks staring right at it happening before his eyes? How can you possibly refute that was a low blow...it was about as square on the meat and potatoes as it could be.

Sergei kind of hid his beltline from Weeks with that posture at the end. None of the shots at the end were blatant low blows so Weeks tell.
