I like coming on this site and hearing different viewpoints and good debates on all things surrounding the sport of boxing.

But, one thing that drives me crazy is when people run with a comment that is rumour or opinion and run with it to the point where it becomes a fact in general discussion.

With all of the recent Floyd - Pac talk going on latelly. A popular misconception or atleast debateable point keeps being stressed as if its an actual agreed upon.

This is that Floyd Mayweather has boring fights. My favourite fighter ever is Mike Tyson becasue he was explosive, fast, skilled and knocked guys out for fun. But Willie Pep could only throw 5 fights a round and watching footage of him would still have me sitting on the edge of my seat.

So to throw the question out there:

Outside of the Baldomir and Oscar (mainly due to how much it was hyped) fights, what other fights from the other 36 were dire spectacles as recently seen with the Tarver-Dawson fight?

I know that my subject title says part 1 but I dont seriously consider doing any more of these threads.

So I'll throw one more in that is annoying as hell.

Haye was "ktfo" by thompson all those years back. Actually the ref stopped the fight because he was worn out on his feet, taking too much punishment and throwing nothing back. Yeh his chin isnt too sturdy but that fight isnt really the one to back up that point. Mormeck would probably be better.

IMO, It's not Floyd Mayweather's style that is boring...
It's the fact that he & his team compare Themself/him to untouchables.
(When compared to those names, Then you have to put up!)

Well, I do not really know what Floyd's motive is. Brittle hands or whatever, but sometimes he could've taken out guys much earlier or he could've been a much more action-packed fighter if he weren't so defense oriented. It's ok to take minimal risk because you want to ensure you still have your brains when you retire or be still pretty after every fight, but safety-first style doesn't really cut it for the masses, especially the non-hardcore fans who tune in just because they paid to see action.

IF Floyd showed up everytime the way he did Arturo Gatti, then he will be more than a superstar.

Whats really frustrating about mayweather is often it seems like he is either cruising in a round or taking time off. As soon as he steps on the gas he does serious damage. Corley is a good example, as soon as mayweather steps on the gas anywhere in that fight he either drops corley or seriously hurts him, why doesnt he do it more often and consistenly. The guy has all the talent in the world but never seems to use more than 10%.

I also think that once mayweather fights a top 5 p4p fighter he will excell as he will be forced to fight the entire fight.

I admire what he does but he can be seen as boring sometimes. The Gatti Masterclass I can watch 7 days a week. That defensive shoulder roll, regardless of effectiveness, can be boring to watch.

Saying he's boring sometimes is not a criticism in my eyes.
Saying he's boring all the time or 90% of the time etc is.

hmm says... I'm not a fan of the cat and mouse style.. The most recent display I saw would be Soto-Guadet in Pac-Hat undercard... I literally almost fell asleep. Other than that, he needs to get out of his comfort zone so fights will be more interesting.

i enjoyed the castillo rematch...that is a showcase on how good PBF can be...it also proves that there is really something wrong with PBF the first time around...

baldomir fight would be remembered for the boos in the crowd. masterful performance but where is the drama?

When one states that Mayweather's fights are boring - it is a subjective opinion and will vary from individual to individual. In my eyes - most of his fights have been boring. Too often I felt that he hasn't fought up to his true potential and finished opponents that he was thoroughly outclassing.

Another misconception here- it was actually his trainer, Booth that threw in the towel as Haye gassed and was taking some brutal shots, the ref did not stop the fight.
