Zarate-Pintor was ridiculous...I saw it and was almost as shocked as Zarate was. Patterson-Ellis was a robbery, I don't care what the ref, Harold Valan,or anyone else had to say to the contrary about it...out and out robbery. Emile Griffith was robbed as well, they say, in the Eckard Dagge fight in '76 (?) and I don't know if it's been mentioned , probably was, so I'll echo the Tyrone Everette-Alfredo Escalera bout.

If you watch when the decision is announced Walcott's handlers act as if it's the greatest robbery of all time. I'm not judging either way, like you said, I haven't seen the whole fight either. But again, the reaction of Walcott's handlers, in addition to being hilarious certainly influences my perception of the fight.

Louis did NOT admit he lost, he stated many times that the thought he won the fight,he apologised to Walcott, because it was a stinker of a fight ,in his opinion.
"When the fight was over ,I just wanted to get out of the ring.I was so disgusted with myself, and the way I had fought that I started climbing out before the decision was announced, I won ,since Walcott didn't come to me.
After all,I was the champion, and he had to take the crown from me"

    Judge Marty Monroe 9 - -6 Louis
Judge Frank Forbes 8--6 one even Louis
Referee Ruby Goldstein 7 --6 Walcott

Louis allways beleived he was entitled to the verdict because Walcott did not" take the fight to him".
Rightly or wrongly ,that was his rationale.
If people havent seen the complete fight ,they are going on old hearsay.
Walcott may have deserved to win ,but Louis did NOT think so
