Nothing to do with education Jeff mate. They were very good fighters but not great ones.

Oh, and the CW's of '93 own today's division, which is thread bare. I mean Wamba, Norris, Czyz, even Warring as boring as he was together are better than the top guys around CW today.

Definitely, although at the time plenty of people were saying it was weak in comparison to the 70's and because Tyson was in jail etc etc

The fact that Bowe vs Lewis never happened is criminal.

Bowe putting the belt in the trash can was the beginning of the end for boxing as a mainstream sport imo

So, ten years ago trumps todays.

So why do I get stick for saying the 20's-60's fighters would trump most of todays then???!?!?

When you consider Kalambay is on there at 8:patschand he's one of the greatest pure boxers of all time...........I wouldn't give Martinez or P-Dub much of a chance of cracking the top ten.

Agree 100%....one of the more overrated fighters of the past 100 years IMO

I think all those would be decisively beaten by Cunningham. Neither division has any depth but, all 20 fighters combined, Cunningham is a clear number one.

Tate was nothing special, I'd take both to beat him, probably Pyatt (puts tin hat on!!) and, in 1993, a 37 year old Kalambay who was close to retiring.

The thing with Kalambays age in 1993 shows again why the 2010 boxers arn't really getting a fair crack of the whip. People see the name "Kalambay" and automatically think of the guys achievements, picture him in his prime and assume theres no way the modern fighter could compete when in reality Kalambay was 37 and had probably already fought his last fight when that list was compiled.

    True. Post-Nunn and all.

Tate was quite good a few years before against Jackson I thought.

But yeah, the '93 versions of those chaps wouldn't push Martin and Williams to the wire.

I also think Cruiser is better than the school of '93.

Oh yeah and I don't rate Collins much at all. Tough as old boots of course.

And as hittable as Williams is, and fan as I am, he leans in too much for me to favour him against Pyatt, who could whack like a horses kick :deal

Cheers mate!! I watched a couple of Arguello fights over the weekend and thought I'd look for a decent avatar of the bloke.

I agree with you on Collins but I thought I was pushing my luck as it was putting Pyatt down for a loss against Martinez and Williams!!!

I went on the hunt for a new Arguello avater today, I found afew perfect ones but they didnt work on ESB, one was with Carlos Ortiz and Jose Torres. Guess I'll stick with thise one just now.

Pavlik, I just don't rate Pyatt at world class mate. IMHO in the days of 1 or 2 world titles he'd have been a decent European champion who lost his world title shot pretty comprehensively.
