Physical of course... I'm surprised so many people here vote mental! :?
It's a sport, it's physical to begin with... you can't outsmart, outmanouvere your opponent if your body doesn't allow it!

If you're physically very strong, but mentally weak you can still be a fine boxer. If you're physically weak, but mentally very strong your body still gives no matter how hard you try.

A bit extreme example is if you physically have no arms, no matter how extremely mentally strong you are, and how hard you try... You just can't box!

Listen buddy I'm not trying to start a cyber fight lol .. this isn't a me vs you thhing .. but if u wanna make it that ill be more than happy to gloves on with u ... I'm 100% confident ill win .. but so are u right? ... I can't say I'm mentally stronger than me because I got knocked down early and I knocked u out ... maybe my stamina is better than urs .... and I didn't build stamina by playing fight night or watching tapes of the all-time greats ..

By the way don't take it so personal ... its ironic were talking about mental strength and ur showing how much u lack it ... relax 'manito'

Ok lets bring another aspect of mental into it.

For those of you that have boxed, or even trained in a boxing gy, there is always those guys always at least one that is the favourite with trainers because he is either he has foreseeable talent and the ability, now there are many gyms and these "good fighters" are the cream of the crop so tell me why these talented guys dont make a name for the, mselves outside of the gym depse having the flash and the speed etc?

Its simple they havent got the mental attitude that makes a prospect yet alone a top fighter which is of course required.

Anyone who has boxed or even trained will tell you eactly the same thing

You still didn't answer the question. Its not about which you can live without, the question was which MORE do you need. BTW, I justed wanted to know if you had any expierance figthing because you seem to know so much about what it takes to win. :thumbsup

I did .. u edit it after I replied so I didn't see it .. id take the physical .. cuz if I was slow and weak and couldn't take a punch I would have no business in the ring ... personally I NEED the ability to get in and out without getting hit or drop someone with one punch and I don't care how brave u are not everyone can say they can do that ...

I've been recorded before by the people I've sparrd against but i never recorded myself ...too be honest I couldn't afford a camera at the time .. then I developed a blood clot in my skull (playing football) and I suffer from migranes ever since .. so I haven't boxed in quite some time ... but I've had some fights and I've dropped a couple people .. I did that physically lol

Lets start giving some examples ...Smart fighters with no power but are HOF .
    1) Sweet pea
    2) Hector Camacho sr
    3) Sugar ray Leonard ...good power but he was so smart in the ring
    4) Ali ....now this is a fighter who had the mental power over fighters ,he was the GOD of Boxing.

Victor Ortiz is still a great boxer... The fact you know who he is says as much.

Explain this guys case! Same weightclass as Ortiz.

He probably is mentally very strong stepping in the ring time and time again taking a tremendous beating! But he still can't box ****!!!
