in reality, boxing is both mental and physical..you study your opponent and
prepare a strategy for a game...this is mental..the habits he often does in the ring and the style he often delivers...then the body works to accomplish this. every move is calculated and perfected through sheer practised.:bbb

What??? ... do u know how tough it is to be a UFC fighter ... they have everything a boxer has as far as mentality goes ... they have more waepons to deal with ... and when ur stuck in a fully locked in arm bar and don't quit, to fight thru an elbow injury, to then win the fight by knock out, but then the rest of ur career goes down the drain because ur biggest weapon is now ur biggest weakness .. that's a tough pill to swallow man... I think both ufc and boxers approach a fight with the same mentality .. but id rather take an ass whoopin in the boxing ring than a ufc cage ...

Ur manny example I think would lean toward the physical side of things ... manny was an one handed fighter but as soon as he learned how to use that right hand everything opened up for him ... sure u can say the right hand was always there but he developed that right hand thru training and training my friend is mostly physical

Yeah but they're are some guys that get it but don't have the athletisism to perform successfully ... cuz even if u can do it,the question is; can u do it quick enough not to get countered ... boxing is tough.. and yeah its mental but if u don't have the ability then ur not going anywhere ..

Yes it's tough in MMA, maybe that's why a bum like Victor Valenzuela is doing quite well with his very limited boxing skills. Every thing about Manny's improvement and subsequent success is mental. He has suffered the ultimate loss in boxing, KO, not once but twice. Did he end up being a journeyman, given to drink and drug abuse? He strives to better himself, that takes a lot of mental toughness, just like Hagler with his early losses. He takes a title fight with 2 weeks notice. 2 weeks is not enough to prepare for a title fight. So physically he was out of shape, he had to compensate for this MENTALLY! We never hear of Ledwaba after this ko loss. Perhaps mentally he is finished.

Have you asked your trainer which is most important?

    Serious question.

I have always said mental is not the most important.

I have always said technical was the most important.

You can never compete with my crystalline logic and you never will

We spend much more time on technical training than anything else. That's why I'm so good at boxing. :smoke

No you stated that technical was physical once you realised that you didnt know **** about boxing. You clutching at straws now.

Besides technical isnt even physical anyway becuase if you never had the mental capacity to understand how ot do these moves then you cant arry it off in the first place, if that was the case there would be 100's of opernell whittakers coming out of his gym as the trainers know the same **** and would have applied it to all their fighters knowing they would all be excellent which of course is the goal in any sport.

Your so good but have never used mental game?

    :-(

have you asked your trainer which os more important?
