**** nationalistic pride. Especially if you're from one of those third world **** ass countries. Proud of what? That you happened to be born somewhere? That's not an acheivement.
I like to follow and support British fighters but it doesn't mean I'd want them to win in every fight. For me it doesnt matter what country a fighter is from, it's about their style/who they fight etc etc.
Not cool. It sounds a bit nationalistic to be insulting third world countries like that. Presumably your country is one of the cool kick ass countries?
I'm not proud to be from my country, and I really couldn't see being proud of being born into a country where I have to wipe my ass bare handed.
I don't think there's any such country. Some people do that for their own sanitary or religious or philosophical reasons, but most countries have leaves... One could be born into a social situation in which one is somehow too poor, but there's no country without leaves or without toilet paper.
They aren't proud because they were "born into a country where they have to wipe their ass bare handed" their proud because they were born to survive with what they are given, and they have nobody to look up to in their country as far as national heroes, so when an athlete or entertainer comes out representing that WHOLE country, how could they not be proud?
it's a part of boxing history....because it's a man to man combat...and its usually instinctive to be on blood brother side during war....say it's natural
Cultural reasons, man. A lot of people are proud of their history/culture. Consider that much of Africa is "third world **** ass countries" as you say, that does not detract from the fact that many of those countries had proud histories where they achieved much.
Ya i'll get behind Irish fighters and support them, and what's the harm. I wont come on forums like this and rave about them being the greatest fighter ever, but I'll cheer for them and watch their fights. It's still a sport after all, whats wrong with cheering for a fighter you can relate to?
At least I'm not proud of something that I literally had no part in like being born somewhere. Proud of what? Am I happy to have been born in the US? Sure, I guess. It could have been a lot worse. If you're happy...Great. Be happy with it, but proud? I think pride should be reserved for something you had a little more to do with than being born into a particular country or race.
you can't deny it. but if a certain boxer from my country is an *******, i would love to see him KTFO.
