No kidding the guy on my Avatar was my favorite as a kid. No one had came tougher or had as much balls, plus he was a Chicano from the same area as me.

At the time, that was somewhat conflicting for me since Calzaghe is half Italian.

But yes, like your World Cup example. When that stuff is on I root for America. After that, I root for Italy. I'm not big on soccer but I watched the last one. Sometimes it can be a bit irritating when you have people in LA booing the USA team when playing against Mexico (Due to the huge Mexican crowd). But I can't say I don't understand it. At the same time, boxing is a sport of individuals. I've been finding myself rooting for Americans every-time in a case like we have with the Super Six.

I guess the super six is a better example. I am rooting for Ward to take it.

My Dad use to go to the Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles back in the 70s which was notorious for their wild and crazy fans. It all came down to national pride. Their were many brawls in the stands because of the big Rivalry between Mexican Nationals vs Mexican Americans battling it out in the ring and in the crowd.

Many of the Mexicans you talked about rooting for Mexico are Mexican Nationals so nothing wrong with going for Mexico. Most Mexican Americans i know dont even care about Soccer they would rather go to a Lakers,Dodgers or USC game.

I am also rooting for Ward or Dirrell to win this, I like Abraham but id prefer one of the Americans to take it.

Fair enough, interesting story. That's true. I'd rather go to a Laker game too. At least they've wised up. Just playing...

Me too (Since Direll basically got the bad end of the stick. I prefer Ward anyway).

I cant believe Bernstien gave that to Froch. I thought the decision was horrible and im surprised there wasnt more outrage over that:twisted: I had it 117-111 Dirrell. He might have run a little too much but Froch didnt do anything do deserve that fight and Dirrell hurt him twice and won way more rounds.

I wanted Kobe to win another ring last year. My bro works for the Magic, so I wanted them to beat them when that final matchup appeared. I didn't expect them to be there, like many others. I predicted Spurs to win. They're getting too old. Boston probably will make it to the finals. But don't count the Magic out. Lebron and Shaq don't have the chemistry and Shaq is clearly aging. They have a legit shot, though.

Kobe has another chance to repeat. If he ends up winning more than MJ than the comparisons start becoming a little more valid/realistic. Till then, he has nothing on him.

There are more solid teams in the West but not to deep on top, so we got this in the West( Denvers tough Though) I agree that the Magic shouldnt be counted out. I agree that Cleveland has slowed down with Shaq,Cleveland only won cause Lakers played like ****:-( I think Kobe will win another and I think he already is very close to Jordan, when he gets another Championship id say hes on par if he gets 2 maybe you can consider him the best:D

I believe some national pride is good for the soul as long as it doesn't rob you of love for others not from your country. We are all brothers under the same God. That's my belief.

National pride sells, im surprise these promoters arent taking full advantage of it.

If I were a promoter Id get 5 C-level fighters from 1 country and 5 C-Level fighters from another and have them fight against each other. The beauty of this is that you dont need a big name to sell the card, national pride will.
