The 10 point must system is seriously flawed and has been a contributing factor to the innumerable dodgy decisions that plague the sport. Any suggestions for a new system that might address the problems that exist in the current scoring system?
They could just keep fighting until someone gets KOed. Like in the old days. I think 'the system' is fine. The people administering it have problems.
It's such a difficult subject. Whilst there is human interpretation involved there will always be flaws no matter what system is implemented. Weren't the WBA looking at bringing half points to try & eliminate draws? I think it's best left alone because once you start fiddling with things the temptation to keep tweaking things starts & we could end up with a system no one is happy with & is no better than before.
I think the 10 point system works fine, but its the actual human interference which seems to be the problem. Not always the case, but some of these judges can score certain fights on a ridiculous scale
I would recommend actually more judging discretion that allows greater differentiation between rounds. The present problem is that a boxer that beats his opponent from pillar to post could win a round 10-9 and then the next round is for all intents even but his opponent squeaks it 10-9 so all up the score is 19-19 but clearly this does not reflect the tone of the fight.
Everyone has rose colored glasses. I see my man winning, and the other guy yells robbery, like I do when my man is robbed. Some yelling robbed just hate foreign fighters. I think a round could and should be labeled a draw...or perhaps a limited ammount.....2 for a ten rounder and 3 for a 12 rounder.
I think it was more a knee jerk reaction to a few incidents in the 80's. I think with the high level of fitness of fighters these days, particularly ones fighting for 3 belt championships, a 15 round fight wouldn't be a problem.
It's the judges that are the problem, I don't know what they are looking at sometimes It's not really a difficult job, people on here score a better fight
