boxing is the biggest free agent sport in the business.

Dana White knew the biggest disadvantages that boxing brings so he brought his business model somewhere else.

 

I wouldn't want one guy to take over every aspect of the sport. Sounds like a dictatorship.

 

yeah fighters fighting for 100K 5 times a year and one boxer like Victor Ortiz takes a two piece for three mil....I am sure the fighters want that business model in boxing...

The other thing is, this side of the story isn't quite accurate either. We look at Ortiz, a good fighter that will never be great and we can say he made it. But what about all the other boxers out there that never make it? You are still making relative pennies when you fight on say a Mayweather or Pacquiao undercard. There are only a couple guys in the sport that get to fight these guys, and those are going to be the big money fights, unless some other extraordinary fighter comes along.

Neither model is perfect.

 

99% of currently active fighters won many (one too many) fights against men who were paid and showed up to lose. Men who often come out after years away from the gym, and the sport, to pad a fighter's record.

This is a sick practice in boxing, only to be justified by it's followers? Disguisting. Corruption at it's finest.

Bottom line? The corruption is never ending and tomato cans and their promoters do more hurt than help for the sport. That warrior mentality ended with The Gillette Cavalcade of Sports.

Boxing needs a reset button and matchmakers like Joe Silva more than anything.

 

Fuk no, Dana will run Boxing to the ground. Hes already oversaturated the market to make as much money as possible with MMA because their model isnt for the long term.

Boxing just needs to get rid of most of the belts keeping only 1 per division and then getting boxers who actually WANT to fight the best and boxing will be back on top. The problem is todays boxers are belt collectors. They don't care which ones as long as its the easiest path to get, thats the path they take. Belts and Boxer mentality are the problems in boxing NOT the promoters or the "business model". A boxer should higher a promoter to promote the fight if he can't promote the fight then the boxer needs to higher someone who can. For anybody to be stuck in a contract by someone who can't do what the contract says is another problem. The boxer is supposed to be the employeer NOT the employee.

 

Take this crap back to Shitdog. Boxing doesn't need Dana. We know this because he already FAILED as a boxing promoter. What works in the UFC doesn't work in boxing. /thread.
