Back in the 90's boxing was booming. I mean we got guys now holding it down, the top P4P guys, you got Floyd, you got my boy Broner, you got Andre Ward. But the thing is we need heavyweights!!! We got those guys, those Klitschkos, but they ain't set no pulses racing, I mean its like they good, but they not that good. Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, guys like that, you know would beat the Klitschkos. But Deontay Wilder, this guy could be it, he could be the forward step, not another backwards step like them klistchko brothers I mean this is a guy who's a big guy, but he fights with skill, technique, fast hands. and he's a killer. Stone Cold killer, that's what we want, not some big friendly giants!! Wilder could be the next big star, I mean if he takes off, you wait he will be guest starring in CSI Miama and **** like that, he'll be in feature films, you wait.
i would argue that the klits are that good, but in a boring way. But yeah, i think the sport needs a genuinely good american heavyweight. 50-50 whether wilder is or not.
Harrison has no chance. He doesn't have the offensive tools to trouble Wilder. This should be an easy KO for the Wildman, but afterwards he will still be basically unproven. Oh how I wish Fury would have the balls to face him ...... - And WTF is wrong with GBP? They've had Wilder for about three years, yet they seem completely unable to make anything significant happen for him.
Wilder needs Wilder to "deliver on the goods" - boxing will continue on with or without him. If he turns out to be the real deal then that would be great for him, for America and for boxing as a whole, but if he turns out to be a flop then boxing will find someone else fill the void. What boxing is lacking is competitive super-fights at heavyweight. The Klitschko's dont deliver them - but so far Wilder hasn't either.
There is something mystical about two elite heavyweights standing across from each other prior to a big fight. Nothing come close in boxing. The Pac-May fights, the Canelo-Trout fight are all good, but it doesn't come close to recreating the pre fight intensity of big heavyweight clashes. Frazier-Foreman, Holyfield-Bowe, Holmes-Norton prior to the opening bell almost had a primal feel to it, and during those days it wasn't just 1-2 boxers who were house hold names. Half of the top 10 heavyweights were house hold names.. They were literally bigger than life. Even though the 90's didn't duplicate what the 60-70's brought in terms of heavyweight popularity, it still delivered in a way the lower weights had yet to emulate in this current generation. You look at Lennox Lewis/Riddick Bowe and you say 'this big black mother****er can literally beat the **** out of any NBA or NFL player.. **** Jordan. **** Barkley. **** these running back clowns from the NFL.. One upper cut from Bowe or a right from Lennox and they are out cold. Floyd, despite being as great as he is will never ever (nor any light weight) give people that feeling. You just can't be a 5'7 boxer and give the same animalistic aura as a 6'5 240+ Elite heavyweight. Klitschkos will be top 5 in the 90's.. just like they will be top 5 in ANY ERA. But because of the declining heavyweight popularity and lack of opponents.. this generation's boxing fans have been cheated of that feeling, that awe inspiring spirit lifting, heart pumping feeling that only a battle between two elite super star heavyweights can bring...
Just the fact your OP lists a string of black fighters who were all "great" ( Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe) and saying they'd beat the K Bros and then saying the current P4P fighters are Broner, Floyd, Ward... Just subtle race trolling by yourself, that's all :yep:conf
are you saying Ali, Foreman, Frazier, Tyson etc were not great? ore that Broner Floyd and ward are not P4P?
Wilder keeps fighting tomato cans His biggest fight to date is an upcoming bout with Audley Harrison after like what 30 pro fights against tomatoes? Says it all. Guy needs to prove himself very very quickly, the only thing he has is hype.
