I didn't like froch to begin with. But he's grown on me. He ain't pretty, he ain't slick he ain't fast. He just a plain old boxer, with balls that likes a challenge. Same can't be said for his compatriots. ( dirrell ward and other clowns )
He deserves credit, but I think the reason many dislikes him is the way he talked about JC before becoming a name
Pac, Froch, Pascal, and Floyd are always fighting top opponents in their last 4 or 5 fights Pac: Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey, Margo (next) Floyd: Judah, Oscar, Hatton, Marquez, Mosley Pascal: Froch, Diaconu, Diaconu, Dawson, Hopkins (next), Dawson (next)
I think the difference is that all of Froch's opponents (minus Taylor) are at or near their perceived prime. The only fighter on Pac's resume that was at or near their prime is likely Clottey, most of the flash on Pac's resume comes from fighting guys naturally bigger. The only fighter on Floyd's resume that was at or near their prime is likely Hatton (weight discussion aside), most of the flash on Floyd's resume comes from the technical domination he displays. Pascal is the only fighter on that list that is close and excluded Hopkins (who is nowhere near his prime) that is only really 3 opponents and one is Froch.
People don't like Froch because he is arrogant, his skills don't match his arrogance, and he robbed dirrel.
Froch is a warrior. He'll takew on anyone and he never gives up. He's clearly not the most talented boxer in the division but it'd be hard to find a guy with more heart. In my opinion you deserve the right to talk **** when you take on all-comers, in a good division, go to war and beat all but one of them.
Shite. Dirrell should've been disqualified for that shameful performance. I mean what sort of weirdo would support Dirrell?
In terms of fighting spirit, attitude in the ring , and willingness to compete yes. In terms of outside the ring personality and boxing skills good god no
He is starting to grow on me just based on that. I mean i disliked him alot but you gotta respect his level of opposition and yes we need more like him.
Froch is a good example of the fact that in boxing the best "boxer" doesn't always win. Sometimes a guy with no "quit" in him can go a long ways.
To be a successful promoter you have to look the part as well as walk it. Or you have to be totally out there a character and stand out like a don king. Or look like a gangster. Mick hennesy just looks like some fat middle aged middle management golfer.
