Boxing needs more fighters like Manny Pacquiao

At the time, the World Boxing Council was holding its annual convention, this gathering taking place in Chengdu, China. Word came out of the convention halls that the delegates, all 200 plus of them, were extremely distraught and angry..."

    "The issue that had apparently crushed the emotions of the normally hardened delegates to this convention was a juicy one: Manny Pacquiao, who held the WBC’s lightweight belt, hadn’t yet paid his sanction fee to the Mexico City based organization for his upcoming fight with de la Hoya."

    "The WBC boss then added; “You cannot imagine how sad and humiliated all the delegates felt. We feel very disappointed and very frustrated because Manny is the best pound-for-pound and the biggest pride of the WBC.”"

    "In other words, Manny Pacquiao doesn’t need a WBA WBC, IBF, IBO , ABC, EFG or XYZ belt. He’s a living legend at the top of his game. He just needs to fight the best fighters he can find, make as much money as he possibly can, entertain his legions of fans the world over, and inform everyone else who tries to tell him otherwise that they too can buy a ticket to watch him fight and put even more money in his pocket."

    We need more fighters like this who wont give into ridiculous body sanctioning demands. It sucks though that the only way for a fighter to get the recognition he deserves is to win one of these pieces of tin. I say once a fighter reaches superstardom like Pacman,Cotto and Pavlik, they shouldnt recognize any more belts and just fight the fight that the fans want.

    Manny not paying sanctioning fees insults all boxers who do. That is so phony too. Second, you didn't enjoy PAc beating Dlh as much as I saw Hop beating the tar out of PAvlik lol... As the bell rang, Hop said, "What, you want some more"?...:lol: then PAv's corner started protesting lol... Classic!

    But after the dust settled Hops all but adopted Pavlik (according to HBO's Jim Lampley) and said he wants to work with him on what was missing, adding he'd even pick him up and take him to the gym himself.

    Glad you enjoyed the show though, happy new years.

    ATG's sometimes do kick up and comers asses from time to time don't they?

    pac should abandon the wbc belt and forget the sanctioning fees. ted lerner made some valid points and pac could better use the $50k sanctioning fees to add to his charity funds for the poor.

    The ABC's are simply not worth the money, but on the other hand we do need some kind of organization to handle things, otherwise it will soon be the HBO belt we are fighting for. Already the viewer rating seems as important as the belt. A guy like Kessler is getting bashed for fighting a mandatory. And what kind of CRAP mandatory is that?!? The ABC's really has outplayed their role on the big stage. But we are all already way too controlled by media opinion and it is money controlling the sport og boxing, not the actual skills.

    You don't even know what sanctioning fees are or what their function is. They could be less expensive, but why should a rich fighter NOT pay his fees when the poorer fighters HAVE to!

    Naw man just kidding. PAv will learn from his fight with Hop. PAv learned that you can't knock everyone out. When all fighters decide not to pay sanctioning fees, I'll ride with that.
    When PAc says he won't, it's a bit disgusting when you see champions who don't earn as much as him having to pay those fees. Fans don't understand this because they love their fighter so much lol...

    Good for Manny to not pay his sanctioning his fee for a non-title bout. Yeah...all the delegates were REALLY heartbroken they didn't get money. :lol:

    Amsterdam...you'll look for any reason top take a **** on Pac. Defending crooked org's that rip off other fighters all the while giving benefits to those they like and thinking of any way to get more money out of fighters....What an *******.
