That second part is what makes the punch stats numbers inconclusive. How do you count a punch that was glancing, rolled with? How do you compare a punch that made the opponent wobble versus a light tapping punch? How do you compare a punch that landed on the shoulder versus one on the neck or belly? It also doesn't take into account punches that are thrown at the gloves on purpose to set up a movement/trap to then a counter. However, given all my complaints about the details, for the most part the boxer who wins tends to also land the most punches. Not the worst measure even if it's an incomplete measure.
