    Jack stop being so condescending

Boxing's a hard sport to market

yes violence sells in this country, but why is boxing having such trouble getting it's big fights onto network cable and having most big time boxing on either Showtime, HBO or PPV?

and regarding the "bull****, UFC sells" comment, well i credit Spike TV/Ultimate Fighter as a major factor into the growing popularity of MMA.

Boxing probably is more entertaining then MMA, and I certainly find it much more then any kind of wrestling

but for whatever reason the American networks (minus ESPN2 and Versus) don't really show a lot of boxing. I think I've seen Poker on basic cable more then boxing.

so im just saying Jack, yeah you can bring up the fact about a fight happening in the NBA (Ron Artest reference) or CNN showing terrorists

but regarding sports, pro football, basketball and even hockey (probably for it's fighting)

are much easier to market, and therefor seen on the networks more often then boxing.

It's called IGNORANCE. For whatever reasons the Execs at CBS and NBC and such think that Boxing is corrupt. I wont even bring up Barry Bonds Homerun "record" or the corrupt Refs in the NBA. Boxing is exciting and fun. Watching a pitcher throw 7 times at a batter only to have him walk, after "Ball 4" is like Chinese Water Torture. Watching Manny Pac and Hatton try and outland each other? Are you kidding me?

o I agree completely. it's the reputation of anything that holds boxing back the most .. ie maybe the corruption it's associated with (judges, Don King for example)

the networks should make an effort to try and get together something like you suggested .. grab a couple young stars .. maybe Pavlik and Berto for example .. pit them in competitive fights and run a Double Header.

**** to hype up the fight, the network could even run a 2 or 3 episode show giving some background on the stars. (think like a 24/7 but less focus on the trash talk and more on the boxers themselves .. more of a documentary style)

but the point here is that boxing compared to the NBA or baseball isn't marketed properly, if at all really.

**and with the ongoing steroid controversies in baseball .. I have to wonder if "America's Past time" might be close to getting slowly phased out of the loop.
