Boxing News team, I was brought on first as a consultant then as a writer. I offered a list of fights they might not have heard of, but had no say at all in the final rankings nor which assignments I got.

For what it’s worth, my own list had Chacon-Limon IV no.1. I wrote about the fight just this week in fact https://www.thefight-site.com/home/the-ferocious-four-and-all-their-fights-ranked

Yeah, I also have that at #1. It really was brutal. I'll give that a read now.

Have you got anything written in Sahaprom vs Chuwatana? I heard of it on a podcast you did awhile ago on your top 10 P4P, which was a good listen, and I know your the Thai guy, so I wondered, have you got one?

While Hearns is my favorite fighter of all-time, I never understood why Hagler v. Hearns was even considered among top 5-10 fights of all-time - much less #2 here. It was a good half a round - or a good round, if you really want to stretch it. Something was clearly wrong with Hearns mid-way the 1st round, both in terms of his legs and the way he was throwing rights. He then proceeded to jab and run for the rest of the fight - which didn't go for much longer - and then get knocked the f(*k out. Heck, you can make the case that Dempsey v. Firpo was better, and nobody seems to consider that one among the top 5. It's just a very over-rated fight.

Edit: Okay, I do see Dempsey v. Firpo at #9; somehow I missed it the first time I glanced through!

Read that, it's wicked. Great work, I'm gonna have to subscribe to your site.

Random questions, who do you feel was the greatest of those four, and then who's your favourite?

I think I'd say Boza for both, with Chacón a close second for both.

Yeah, it's too short and inconsistent to be among the best ever. By that I mean it's one ATG round then 2 mediocre rounds. If it was 3 ATG rounds, sure. It could be up there.

I've also said I found Dempsey Firpo hideously overrated in the past. I have no doubt it won't even make my top 100 fights, when it doesn't even make my top 10 HW fights.

My favourite is Boza Edwards, I’d say Chacon is the greatest, even if I don’t agree with the decision in the Boza rematch I guess it’s a conceivable decision and not the worst robbery I’ve ever seen so he won the Limon series, 1-1 with Boza, as well as having wins over Lopez and Olivares (amongst others I noted in the article)

I've been waiting to read an article like this for years. Going to take my time reading this one but I love what I've read so far. Thank you.

Good list, I liked about 65-70 % of the ones you had, that's pretty good, ig. Now I want to make one of those lists.
