I'm sure Cotto could easily have defended his WBO "world title" at light welter for 10 years. He moved up to get big fights.
Resume shouldnt be the be all and end all. if that was the case nobody would out Calderon in the bloody list. its about who is would beat who if they were any weight.
i think it makes more sense to put fighters int he top 10 but not in any order as there is never anyway way of really knowing. Mayweather Calzaghe Pac Marquez Calderon Guzman Pavlik Cotto Hatton Hopkins In no particluar order, that seems like a fair top 10...
I go more off accomplishment, pref. recent ones. How can you judge a Heavyweight and a Flyweight P4P? The whole style of fighting is different, the flyweight can get away with certain things in certain areas that the heavyweight can't and vice-versa.
Its clear this magazine has only put Chris John in above Marquez on account of the gift decision that John got over Marquez a few years back. They can't justifiably rate John any higher, but they feel obliged to rate him higher than Marquez so they have put him in the scandalously low position of 10th to accomodate John in the lowest position he can possibly be in by their flawed logic of 9th.
pavlik has gone to top of a tough division beat the champion now twice easy therefore he should be number 3 - i rate p4p mayweather on the welters - calzaghe super middle - pavlik on the midlleweights - then we can maybe say hopkins on the light heavy - cotto hasnt done **** yet - his beat an old mosley & an old judah therefore ild rank him 7 or 8th not as high as 3 .... still think hatton is top 10 if he can reign again at light welt..
I thought the list looked pretty decent on first glance when I read it but having Calzaghe so high seems abit daft now. The guy is top five at best but no higher.
