Went to an AM night at maroubra sports club last night. 14 fights matched, boys and girls keen as. Some opponents and trainers travelled as far as Tasmania and orange to fight. all the weigh ins were done, and 5 min before the first bout, we find out no doctor has been organised. They dragged it out for an hour or so, all pointing the finger and arguing as to why it wasnt their fault, so then the whole night was cancelled, familys were refunded etc etc. Ultimately, the club copped the blame as apparentley they are supposed to book the doctor, and fair enough, they should wear it.

It did however show lack of organisational process on the part of Boxing NSW. You would think that they would double check all is in order before the event, and the CSA does.

Everyone used to complain about Tunstall and Co, but are these guys any better? Another example is their coaching accreditation. Under the last managment team all coaches recieved their level 1 under the NCAS scheme, and recieved not only a Boxing nsw ticket, but a qualification from the australian sports commission, this no longer happens. Instead you get a bodgy laminated card that mentions the commission, but nothing official.

Also the actual handling of events themselves is very disfunctional, as noone seems to know what they are doing, and they all seem to fumble through it, making things up as they go.

The only good thing that has come out the change of hands is Paul Nasari doing the match making, He does a good job, and you dont have to slip him a green back for a match like Mr toweel.

Went to an am night at Souths Juniors a few weeks back. 11 fights all up
and it went pretty smooth i thought. Pretty sure Paul was the matchmaker, Arthur on the mike, special guest presenter was Lenny Zap
some great fights, entry free for members, visitors 5 dollars.

I went to the am fight night at norths the other week. 21 fights all up not a bad night. They also had a few masters fights. The onlything I didn't like was one of the refs/judges was also a trainer working the corner as well. Very unprofessional of boxing nsw I thought.

I recall when I got my accreditation (about five years ago) I sat in a function room of an RSL up the north coast of NSW and listened to racist, sexist and homophobic jokes for an entire day. Next minute I got in my car and drove away "qualified" to be in an amateur boxers corner.

Point is not a single word about actually training nor being in the corner of a boxer was mentioned. Pay your money, turn up and waste time. Sounds like nothing has changed.

Oh also, no food provided. Schnitzel and chips at the RSL was average.
