I've been boxing for the last couple months and was really getting into it, but recently relocated. I had a good set up at home...plenty of floor space, heavy bag, wrecking ball, double-end, speed bag, and a training partner to work the mitts. I'm now stuck in an apartment and it's killing me. There is a boxing gym nearby, but they want well over 100 bucks a month and i just can't justify that. I've managed to hang a double end bag which is keeping me busy, but i really want to work on some power punches. i'm on top of my roadwork, strength, and conditioning. there is no way i can put a heavy bag up. any recommendations?
Their is nothing else you can do friend, get some cash together and go down the gym. Perhaps find a cheaper one further away?
You're not in the Boston area, are you? The major one around here - the only one conveniently located - is in that price range; I've always wondered if that's "normal" compared to other regions..
Boxing gyms costing $100/month is definitely not normal. Is it an MMA gym with a boxing program? Because that's the price you usually pay at mma or jiu jitsu gyms.
the gym nearby is strictly a boxing gym and i think $100 is ridiculous. there is a mma gym about 35 minutes away, but then the next closest gym is over an hour. my thought right now is to hang a bag out in the woods....
$100 is very reasonable if it includes a trainer and unlimited usage. i would be exstatic to be offered that price.
My gym costs 25 $ a month but then again it doesn't even have a ring, it has a few fighters, 3 heavybags, 2 double end bags, a speed bag, a bench press, a squat rack, and a set of free weghts along with some other boxing gear.
Sounds like a steep price, I pay 20 euro's a month for a gym with coach, ring, bags, etc, unlimited access.
that's all i'm looking for. i've done some research and apparently a new gym is opening up down the street from me within the next month. not specifically a boxing gym, but should have everything i need.
i pay 200$ USD month for use of my gym - no trainer. If someone could tell me an alternative in Manhattan I'd be grateful but im pretty sure it doesnt exist..
:admin That's a stark contrast. As stated, the premiere club around here ranges from $145+/month with supposedly unlimited one-on-one time, though the coach-to-student ratio was pretty unwieldy during my time. Maybe they've beefed up their staff since, either way it's a ripoff. RDJ, need a roommate? How hard to become a Dutch citizen?
