So any idea of who the commentary team will be? Anyone have any preferences or choices on who it should be? I reckon Paul Briggs would be a natural for commercial tv.
The promoters & match-makers - Fidel Tukel (Sydney) and Brian Amatruda & David Deicke (Melbourne) will probably have some input. Briggsy would be good and is apparently available courtesy of Mundine's mob. I think Amatruda and Barry Michael are pretty close. But I'd assume he's already contracted elsewhere? Keiffy Ellis would be a hit for some 'very' special comments - that is if he could be let loose on free-to-air TV. Keith is obviously 'in the know' with this one as he kinda broke the news, and has 'Tiger' Bell slated for a first night fight.
A little bit the same as getting Allan ' Robbo' Robinson to provide special comments on melbourne cup day, would definately have the knowledge, But possibly a bit to lethal for prime time tv. would be great humour though
Network TEN will have a "Network anchor' or current TEN televesion presenter and then a few ex pro boxers to fill in the content/ comments....thats my guess anyway.
Very silly...and the ratings from the first few fights will dictate how much TEN will spend on advertising for future fights and how long they will keep doing the boxing events...so in short bad ratings doom the show.
If the fights are good enough, people will watch them. The Footy Show may be on its last legs at the moment and Ch 10 is looking to capitalise. Doesn't really matter when, I'm watching for sure.
I know its only a minor detail, but I read that it was the AFL footy show that it would clash with? Anyway, hope the commentary team is half decent, Briggs would be a good start.
