The guy knocked down above is the MMA legend Don Frye, spanked by an ex- boxing trainer. Is that a real fight or not? You know... you said that knocking out guys in the fastest and more natural way posible (this is, with fistcuffs) is not fighting...I tell you what, the only sports here were are not fighting are wrestling and brazilian jiu.jitsu (which can be called toghether as catch wrestling).Whithin the strikes alowed, the grappling are a game and not fighting and they have never be considered fighting, but strenght and folklore games. There is a fight when you can Ko your oponent or make his nose bleed, and he can do you the same.Sports with rules based on intentional damage, and not "tapping" when the game begin to hurt.If you want to consider catch wrestling fighting, you need to add the strikes to the equation, if not, sorry, but are sun, sand and beach entertainment.

And is funny that you throed a stone in your own window when called professional boxers ***gots, when they are competing in the roughest and the more heterosexual sport in the world, and the MMA is percepted as...emmm.... you know.

Look at this, little boxing-hater, MMA, valetudo, NHB, Grapling-box or whatever they name it today, for me is ok and sometimes is a very entertaining show.In fact, I have been following closely since the days of dissapeared Pride fc.But, aswell, I cant denie the fact that today the mma is a third rate combat sport, and probably will never surpass the very worldwide and culturally arraiged king of combat sports, pugilism. The diferent combat sports were separated long time ago for good reasons, the athletes competing one on one in the same area; watching MMA sometimes I have the sensation of viewing the game of stone, paper, scissors, a guy totally outclassing the other in one area, and the other guy chooses to change the fight in another sport where he now outclasses his oponnent.Looks sometimes like ***** fighting, or coward fighting. And I think that plus the relatively low level of talent pool and cuality level of competition, off course.

And, relative to the new name for the sport, MMA, the term was used firs time by a japanese promoter, and, in fact, that comes from a type of japanese pro wrestling matches who tried to simulate more realistically diverse martial arts fights, some that is not very well known.More similarities with fake wrestling are the method of organization, in witch there will be diferent independent private companies who owns the belts and the image rights of his fighters. That method works for fake fights, not for real and legit competitive sports, obviously.MMA runs like a TV circus, maybe in the future the UFC will become fake, like happened with the once popular catch-wrestling hybrid matches in Europe and America, who where once time highly popular competing with boxing at the last cuarter of XIX century, but the fade passed and the promoters comming togheter fixing the fights at the start of XX century, when the people was bored with that and was more interested in the characters and flashy and circense shows. At all, real wrestling is boring while and action packed boxing fight never was and never will be.Because are tension and is the real prove of courage and guts.

With that purses, and the global implantantion and historical recognition, the pinnacle of competition for a natural fighter who wants to be well rewarded for his efforts and merits, is the dense and difficult circuit of profesional boxing.

The prizefighting circuit of mma, as well excludes the better potecially best pool, in cuality and cuantity, via the expensive amount of cash that cost the training in the multiple disciplines and the charge of the mma gyms (especially with the bjj trainers), contrary to the boxing world, with cheaper (and free in many cases) training, more extended gyms arround the world, including poor countries, and more and more regular working offers for the profesionals, with much better purses.Boxing is and ever will be the sport of choose for the working classes and the really hungier people.MMA maybe for the white american suburban youths with money. If you are softy and afraid of exchange punches for money, glory, and a place in the history, you just can add wrestling and paint your toe nails.

And the painful thrut, kids, and what Joe Rogan will never tell you, is the MMA is a transitional sport.Guys who are past his prime in their combat sports, or the ones who are to bad or to soft to deal with the rigors of the most physical, difficult to sucess, bigger and well payed form of prizefighting in the earth, go to try is the MMA, and get brain damage and staph infections for a plate of soup and the privilege to do a blowjob per week to their matchmaker and owner Dana White.

Boxing is the ancient honorable and corageus form of fighting, and methapore of life, who are written in fire in the cultural history of the human being. MMA is guys tapping each other in a cage.

I do understand this very well. And this is a reason that less hand protection means you cant throw as many combo's as you see in a boxing match due to the reduced hand protection

But boxing trolls put that down to MMA fighters being ''unskilled brawlers'' when aside from the obvious disparity in the amount of time training from boxing the 4oz gloves dont allow either the protection from breaking your hands or using the larger gloves as a defensive measure to cover your chin in the way that say Hopkins or Floyd are masters at

I understand both sports fella, I think you are misunderstanding me trolling the boxing fans by turning their disrespect of MMA fighters around to boxers as a genuine disrespect for boxing and boxers.

Im on a boxing forum after all

No you dont understand. Not so long time ago the boxing fights were maked with 4 and 6 oz in the lower classes. And in pride the gloves were six oz.

The defense with the gloves are partial and the good defensive boxers rellies much more in his feets, shoulders, and head movement, due to counter faster and easily.

    GTFO

    I do understand

By this simple sentence I mean the are not as good at defending punches due to the fact that's what boxers do FULL TIME, day in and day out as they do not have to work on more aspects of martial arts than defending two points of attack

The left and right hands, incase you couldnt work this out

    STFU :good

True. MMA fighters don't do it full time. They are too busy changing tires at Sam's Club.
