Sadly he passed away in 1998. I had the pleasure of working with Tate, back when I was with Keith McKnight. Typical blue collar type fighter, always tried, no matter how stacked the deck was against him.
Wow moparfan. You're on a roll. I have absorb this knowledge quick. You are like a boxing knowledge sensei. I wanna see you and CST80 square off. We can all donate through PayPal and have a boxing knowledge PPV on ESB/BN24
Oranges & Apples CST is an excellent reference for any Matchmaker Moparfan is the historian that just opened up a mystery I also feel there is at least a decade gap in age between the two :think
Thank you. As for the CST80 & I debate, I would be honored to do so. His vast knowledge of finding the diamonds in the rough type fighters before they become household names is very appreciated here. CST houses an undisputed amount of boxing knowledge, and as someone like me, a veteran of 18 years in the business of boxing, I have the upmost respect for CST80; I use some of his guidance and smarts with fighters I work with. I believe our debates would be highly contested, fierce, informative and more importantly very cordial and friendly towards one another...!!!
Corrie Sanders Almost wanna say Hasim Rahman due to Lewis but I don't know if that's fair Austin Trout upsetting Cotto though he may go on to big things Ishida by beating Kirkland
You'd beat the hell out of me in some areas, especially stuff pre 1990, I'd beat the hell out of you in some areas too post 90. It would be a back and forth slobberknocker.:deal
Yes it would...the ebb and flow of us dictating the pace of the debate, the verbal jabs and spoken right hands crashing against each other's cranium would not just cause Dain Bramage, but maybe smarten us up to things we are not familar with in the wonderful world of the sweet science...!!! It's the old adage, win by losing....we gain knowledge but we loss the debate...!!! Oh, and for the record, you may win the debate, but: Moparfan wins EVT...!!!
Carlos Maussa Hadn't really done a great deal before soaking up everything Vivian Harris had to offer. Fought Hatton next in a ugly tuff fight before nearly getting decapitated off a leaping left hook that left him on his knees in the corner looking like a puppet with cut strings. Lost his next 3 and that was his career.
Maussa, good choice...had a loss against Moura, who despite his record was actually a decent journeyman. Moura held wins over Omar Weis, and Juan Lopez and a Split Decision loss to Negron (a fight he could have easily won if not for the knockdowns he suffered), before he decisioned Maussa. Maussa only other loss prior to that was against Miguel Cotto...!!!
