With this horrible economy, I would think that boxing promoters would take a page from MMA sometime in order to really try to swing fans back to boxing. Take the December PPV's in both sports. Boxing had a chance to put a solid card together for one of the biggest draws of the year, but instead they stacked the card with mismatches!!!! UFC has 3 solid main event fights on 1 card. I know how time restraints are comparing boxing 10-12 3 min rounds, oppose to UFC 3-5 5min rounds, but god. The only PPV boxing has put on all year worth buying was the Cotto-Margo PPV, and I was leary about paying the 50 for that one!!!!:patsch

    What do u think???:think:think:think

The main event in boxing sells the ppvs, that where the money goes, in the fighters pockets, maybe that the right way to do things but you tend to find the bigger the main event the weaker the undercard.

The 'UFC' is the product what sells their ppvs, and even though they will do simlar numbers to boxing ppvs and sometimes more the fighters do not get paid anywhere near a main event boxer would get paid. That way there is some sort of quality control on the undercard, everyones on **** money, everyones employed under the same banner (UFC) so they are more likely to fight each other on the cheap. Its not like they can make any more money fighting under any othher mickey mouse mma banner, UFC is all theyve got! But in boxing if one champ doesnt wanna fight another he doesnt have to, even if your a contender coming up you have 4 champs to choose from...too much politics in boxing.

In boxing, we dont get anywhere near as many big fights as we should, it takes major money to make an unification happen, especially as their are four guys making a good buck calling themselves world champion, why **** on each others cornflakes?

If boxing wants to compete, more risk need to be taking by mangers AND boxers, we need to churn out great fights and competitive undercards on every ppv show, otherwise people just wont pay.

    De La Hoya Forbes

None of these fights were PPV in America . . . . Although as you know we got to pay usually around $40 for the privilege!

MMA still has to many PPVs to my taste to be honest. I mean coming up we will have 3 UFC PPVs inside of about 30 days or maybe its 5 weeks but still. Plus there will be a big Affliction card. If I had the money id buy all 4 cause I mean these matchups taking place on all of them are straight up sick its a hell of a month coming up in MMA. I mean you will NEVER see anything close to this in Boxing all these dream matches Nog-Mir,Silva-Rampage III,Shogun-Coleman II,Hendo-Franklin,Fedor-Arlovski,Belfort-Lindland,Evans-Griffin,BJ-GSP II not to mention all the other good quality matchups taking place like Denis Kangs debut in the UFC,Thiago Silva vs Machida,Lytle vs Davis ETC. That said 4 PPVs thats ****ed up damn atleast make one of them free. The economy is way to tough these days the only thing going down in price is Gas.
