I agreed with everything Goosen and DiBella said until the very last "in 5 years I don't know if there will be boxing"...

Boxing will always be big in Europe. That will NEVER change. Problem with US fans is they're way too fickle. They dont support their own and they're too willing to jump on the next big thing.

That said Goosen and Dibella were on point. Boxing's star is waning hugely because the best fights arent being made and the best are not fighting the best. All that does is alienate the fans who make the fighters rich.

The weight classes are not the issue. The profligacy of all these belts is. The WBA and WBC are guilty of ruining boxing with these ridiculous titles and championships. WBO mandatorys in most cases are close to worthless. The IBF have also been guilty of blatant corruption already being investigated by the FBI. They all need to be disbanded and simply not recognised by any fighter.

    good video.

In response to Goosen, I would say that Pac doesn't claim he's the best, other people say that about him.

Pac will fight anyone (he considers that its Arum's job to pick his opponents) and the reason that Arum doesn't want to put Pac against fighters who are not Top Rank fighters is
    1) Arum doesn't have to split the profits.
    2) Arum believes that by giving Top Rank guys the big opportunities, more fighters will want to sign with Top Rank.

In response to DiBella I would say that boxing still targets demographics that MMA doesn't target. Yes it has young fans (I'm 26 been a fan since 17) though not as much as MMA. But what about Mexicans, Puerto Ricans, Filippinos, even blacks. These demographics even the young ones like boxing more than MMA. I don't see boxing as being under any threat whatsoever in the next 5 years

But diBella is right about improving undercards. I'm sure alot of good fighters would be willing to take a smaller purse to be on the undercard of a Pac vs Cotto type fight so that they can get some exposure. And anyways with the kind of money these cards are making, the promoters should be willing to invest a little bit more.

There's not one principal issue... But the weight classes are one part of the problem with boxing. Hell, I'm a boxing fan and I can't even keep track of all the different weight classes, let alone the different champions in every single one, not to mention the fact that boxers keep moving up and down in weight...

Weight Class Limit in Stone kg Pounds Mini Flyweight (IBF/WBO)
    Strawweight (WBC)
Minimumweight (WBA) 7½ st 47,627 kg 105 lbs
    Junior Flyweight (WBO/IBF)
    Light Flyweight (WBA/WBC) 7st 10 lbs 48,988 kg 108 lbs
    Flyweight 8 st 50,802 kg 112 lbs
    Super Flyweight (WBA/WBC)
    Junior Bantamweight (WBO/IBF) 8 st 3 lbs 52,163 kg 115 lbs
    Bantamweight 8 st 6 lbs 53,525 kg 118 lbs
    Super Bantamweight (WBA/WBC)
    Junior Featherweight (WBO/IBF) 8 st 10 lbs 55,225 kg 122 lbs
Featherweight 9 st 57,153 kg 126 lbs Super
    Featherweight (WBA/WBC)
    Junior Lightweight (WBO/IBF) 9 st 4 lbs 58,967 kg 130 lbs
    Lightweight 9 st 9 lbs 61,235 kg 135 lbs
    Super Lightweight (WBA/WBC)
    Junior Welterweight (WBO/IBF) 10 st 63,503 kg 140 lbs
    Welterweight 10½ st 66,678 kg 147 lbs
    Super Welterweight (WBA/WBC)
    Junior Middleweight (WBO/IBF) 11 st 69,85 kg 154 lbs
    Middleweight 11 st 6 lbs 72,574 kg 160 lbs
Super Middleweight 12 st 76,203 kg 168 lbs
Light Heavyweight 12½ st 79,378 kg 175 lbs
    Cruiserweight (WBA/WBC/IBF)
Junior Heavyweight (WBO) 14 st 4 lbs 90,892 kg 200 lbs
    Heavyweight > 14 st 4 lbs > 90,892 kg > 200 lbs

Don't tell me that the 105 guy couldn't fight in the 108 weight class...

Or what would be the problem with:
    110
    120
    130
    140
    150
    160
    170
    180
    200
    200+

That's almost 50% less... Means there's more boxers in less divisions, meaning more chance of them having to fight better fighters and not just, for example, staying at 108 instead of going down to 105 or up to 112 to fight serious boxers...

wtf is a "welter"weight, "cruiser"weight, "bantam"weight? And what's with the "super" bantam, "junior" bantam, "junior" lightweight, "super" lightweight, which btw is somehow heavier than a regular lightweight... Shouldn't a super light weight be lighter than a regular light weight? ****ing hell, make them logical...

    110 Midget
    120 Fly weight
    130 Feather weight
    140 Light weight
    150 Heavier light weight
    160 Regular weight
    170 Heavier regular weight
180 Even more heavier regular weight
200 Heavy but not that heavy
200+ ****ing huge or gtfo weight

Then it would make sens. Midget? Ok, tiny guys... Light weight, ok, they're light.. .Heavier light weight, heavier, than regular, people would know wtf they're talking about. Now, they go like Bantam, and you're like, wtf's a bantam?

:patsch You're making yourself sound like an idiot.

    • Flyweight 8 st (50,802 Kg / 112 lb)
    • Bantamweight 8 st 6 lbs (53,525 kg / 118 lbs)
    • Featherweight 9 st (57,153 kg / 126 lbs)
    • Lightweight 9 st 9 lbs (61,235 kg / 135 lbs)
    • Welterweight 10½ st (66,678 kg / 147 lbs)
    • Middleweight 11 st 6 lbs (72,574 kg / 160 lbs)
    • Light Heavyweight 12½ st (79,378 kg / 175 lbs)
    • Heavyweight (unlimited)
These were the original weight classes. The "Junior" and "Super" weight classes were added because fighters were risking their health and lives trying to make weights that were not close enough to their natural weight.
Additionally the weight divisions had to be adjusted as fighters are now alot bigger than days gone by. Hence the introduction of the Cruiser division and its change in weight from 190lbs to 200lbs some years back.
