I know Margarito is promoted by Top Rank, (Arum), but is Cotto also a Top Rank guy??? Thanks. I need to contact both fighters promotors about something. :good
Whats going on Jetski?! Does this have to do with the painting you said you made in another thread? ...(I think that was you who mentioned this). Mind posting a picture of it? I'd love to check it out.
Yes...what a ****in hassle for a sports artist to get legal permission to do a painting from a copyrighted photo. First, the image I want to use is owned bt Getty Images. Contacted them this morning & they want $370 for a license granted to me to use it. Then, I have to contact both fighters promotors & get permission from them, also. Don't know if they will request a fee or not. Thats done already. Just fired off an email to Top Rank in Vegas. So lets see what happens. But if I do get all the OK's, I'm gonna have to dish out some money in order to make money. If that Margo vs Cotto painting sells on ebay, its gonna have to go for mucho deneiro $$$!!! This is the one to paint...It would be KILLER! But how many boxing fans out there want to spend $1200 or $1500 for a painting? I know there's plenty of people out there with lots of $$$, they just need to see my stuff. Surely, no one on this forum has that kinda money. I gotta break into the big time, ya know? Tired of giving away my art for peanuts. And in these hard economic times, even the rich are being careful with their jack. This content is protected
Thats awesome. Hope it all works out for you. Definitely a great choice (expect the fact that my by MC is getting his face caved in!). I'm sure Margarito fans would love to have a nice painting of this. I don't think I have ever seen any of your painting. Mind sharing them? EDIT: Have you seen this guys paintings? http://sloneart.com/ Are yours similar to that stlye?
Come on AG, I've been posting my stuff here for years! Didn't you see the recent one I finished of Adamek for PolishPummler? Yes, I've seen that guys work before. Very stylized. Thats so he doesn't need to get permission to avoid violating any copyright laws. He changes the composition dramatically from the photos he finds & then there is no problem. I'm a realist & don't deviate from the photo any. Maybe I should change my style to do crap like him. But look where its gotten him? That stuff prob sells for $5000 a pop or more. I'll show some things again...just give me a few minutes. And if all you see are those damned red x's, stop back in awhile. They'll show up. :good
Thats because of the slight perspective of the photo. Yeah, poor Cotto. He shouldn't have looked so cocky in the 1st 6 rounds. After that, his expression changed to extreme concern! But like Margo said, "I told you so"!:hey
AG, heres a few things I've done. Adamek vs Ulrich. PolishPummler now owns it. This content is protected Ali I did years ago. This content is protected Jimmy Connors... This content is protected And my Masterpiece...The Kentucky Derby. This one is almost 4 ft. wide. This content is protected Don't you think my stuff is better than that cartoon art that Sloan guys does? He prob couldn't even do something like what I've done if he tried. That why he's using all the wild colors & ****, along with avoiding copyright law violations. Oh well, maybe someday I'll get a break.
39 years of self taught practice & effort. Being colorblind doesn't help. I honestly don't know how I do it. I've been drawing since I was 5 & my 1st painting was when I was 16. Buy anyone one can learn. Theres plenty of books out there to teach you. Just follow the steps. Also, it helps to be able to draw. So start practicing sketching with only a paper & pencil. Once you get comfortablr there, its time to start a painting, which is much more complication than just drawing. Good luck. I could make some serious money if I started up some painting classes. A few students a $35/hr all adds up. I used to teach for 12 years at the Adult night school classes at the local high school. No more, though.
I'd love to take up painting like that. I used to be pretty good at drwing when I was younger but haven't done so for a few years now. What really confuses me is how you blend in different shades, like shadows etc, and the textures and like the creases in the skin and veins aswell. That's outstanding.
Holy crap dude! You are sick! I don't know how I never saw your work in the past but man are you good. I might need to hire you to paint one when Miguel Cotto gets revenge on Margarito! OR better yet....when Andy finally wins a major title!!!!
