Fresh off of the TKO of Joel Casamayor, Tim Bradley was the WBC/WBO super lightweight/ Jr. welterweight champion after stopping Devon Alexander 10 months before. He was ready to prove his wroth against any challenger or champion when he got the invite to fight Manny Pacquiao. Before that Bradley was scheduled to fight Amir "Princess Jasmin" Khan for the WBC title as a mandatory. Bradley did what any fighter at the time would have done and went after the dream fight on PPV with an elite fighter of Manny's pedigree. Khan sulked that Bradley ducked him even though he was beginning his early stages of "jungle fever" for Floyd Mayeather's nut sack, a symptom that just will not be denied. What if Bradley had of skipped the money fight where he defeated the 147 killer of the time and instead fought Khan who was fresh off of getting outboxed by Lamont Peterson, a fighter that was de-owed by Bradley in 2009. What would that have done for his career? Just look at Danny Garcia and Bredis Prescott it does nothing!!!!:deal
Old man Bob made him too good of an offer. Bradley got paid 1 mil to fight vs Casamayor and a fight with Pacquiao was also on the table.
I like Bradley and I think he's, overall, the better fighter, but Khan beats him. Don't know about back then but now, I'd put money on Khan.
What are you basing this on? Khan's last outing when he was hurt multiple times and taken into deep waters by Algieri?
Several things... 1. Bradley looked fatigued and slow against Rios. He doesn't have some new found power IMO, I think he KO'd an exhausted Rios. Rios looked beat mentally and just tired. And as usual, Bradley looked sloppy (most recent Bradley fight where he looked crisp was against Marquez). 2. Algieri did rock Khan a few times, you think Bradley can land the same punches? Neither Algieri or Bradley are power punchers, Algieri just timed Khan and landed solid shots at the right time. Bradley, who's shorter both in height and reach, won't land the same shots. 3. Bradley is short, he'll make Khan look stupid on the inside but how often will he get there? I think it's a close, competitive fight. Khan wins on the cards like 115-113 or 116-112. Bradley might hurt Khan to the body at some point but mostly gets outboxed on the outside. Had this fight occurred back in 2010 or 2011, I think Bradley would have a better chance. But at 147 and up, I like Khan in this fight.
Khan doesn't do well w/ rough guys... Timothy's one of the roughest fighters out there. He smothers and bangs you up on the inside. Khan was made extremely uncomfortable by Lamont Peterson and Bradley's better at it than Lamont. I thought Timmy looked sharped in the Rios fight. He fought intelligently and was aggressive without brawling. I loved the quadruple left hooks he threw.
even though Khan is no where near an ATG as Pac is I think he couldve beaten Bradley at that time so Bradley went the right way
