For all Boxing fans out there, Main stream boxing is and has always been in the spot light, rightfully so too. However, to continue attracting a range of talent and public interest into the sport, I feel we could do more to support amateur boxers and their clubs. Amateur boxing supports the community, through focus and discipline it builds friendships, families, communities and a deep respect for one another, which many people carry through life. I remember my experiences as a youngster with my friends in the boxing gym, which were good times. On many occasions I have witnessed the passion and dedication of individuals, families, and enthusiasts of different generations, not to mention their blood, sweat & tears who are fully committed to develop their club members talent and interest in the sport, to support individuals of various ages grow and progress in this sport and in their club and to one day be the reason they are now fighting for their country! However, we need to more support for Amateur boxing clubs, as I feel amateur clubs resources to maintain there presence in their communities are stretched and I feel we can do more to aid these clubs and those who spend all their hours helping those who "walk through their doors". Think about this - Would it help if there was more investment in your clubs? i.e. training, facilities, new gear etc. Though one would never ask, I can't imagine why such clubs would not be grateful for this support, as its aiding the longevity of your clubs which are the backbone of many a community. Plan of action I am at the start of a long journey to raise the profile of amateur boxing, to raise awareness of this need for financial support, which can come from commercial investment - which I will campaign for and relay this journey on a regular basis.
