    Champions and world title fights:
    At the end of 2008 there were 66 reigning world champions (WBC, WBA, WBO, IBF, The Ring) 3,9/division.
    In 2008, there were 140 world title fights 2,1/champion.


    Dividing boxing to 3 categories:
    From Strawweight to Super Bantamweight: 24 reigning champions (4/division), 58 world title fights (2,4/division), 3 P4P-ers (The Ring),
    From Featherweight to Junior Middleweight: 25 champions (4,1/division), 48 world title fights (1,9/champ) 5 P4P-ers (The Ring)
    From Middleweight to Heavyweight: 17 champions (3,4/division), 32 world title fights (2/champ), 2 P4P-ers (The Ring)


    Countries with at least 2 P4P-ers (The Ring):
    UK (inlc. Wales): 2
    Puerto Rico: 2
    Mexico: 4


    Champions from a continent and world title fights staged in given continent (including countries with at least 3 champs at the end of the year and at least 5 world title fights staged during 2008 )

    Mexico with 11 world champions is very impressive.


    The statistics make for very envious reading for an Irishman.

    OP didn't specify, so now I'm unsure whether the USA includes Texas or not :think

    Of course I counted Wales as part of the UK MARKET, nothing more. Make things easier when having a look at the whole boxing world and finding the most important regions of fighters and fights.
