I'd much rather watch boxing on my computer than a tv, and I have a 55" tv with a big comfy couch. I just prefer my computer. Its cheap and a streaming service isn't as hard to implement than a tv network so its not like its going to take up a lot of espns resources.

Three 5 dollar apps is still cheaper than a tv package to view the same fights.

Youre wrong. Dazn is doing it in Canada and doing really well. Theyre not reinventing the wheel just taking something that already worked on a smaller scale and blowing it up.

I'm surprised there isn't a Matchroom app already in the UK, considering how many sports they cover.

£4.99 a month for all the Matchroom Boxing Cards + all their other stuff would be a very good price.

Streaming is bullcrap. It will take a lot of time to get it started, but would it last?

It's no different to sky/Virgin or what the US guys would call 'cable' is it?

It's just arriving to you differently, via the internet.

Streaming is already the number one way people consume music and movies via netflix and spotify etc. Its absolutely the future.

Streaming is the future of all TV content to be honest. Subscribing to Netflix, Amazon, Hulu etc is no different that people now paying for their HBO, Showtime, Sky subscription, only the latter is far more expensive. Fact is a lot of people watch fights via streams, legal and illegal,

If Hearn's streaming deal is true how it is implemented will be the deciding factor on it's level of success. Fact is Netflix does not pay a lot for it's content, it pays creators very little but guarantees creative rights and ensures a full season is made and the show won't be cut. If the deal is with Netflix I doubt you'll see them paying premium prices for poor content.

I suspect Hearn's less popular fighters, under cards will be free to watch on Netflix of Amazon. Hearn will make some money from the streaming service but not a lot because in reality he wouldn't of made any money from these fights outside of the UK because no overseas TV network would of aired them. Plus he can charge more from advertisers as he's exposing them to a larger international market.

But the big fights will likely see a PPV type service where you will need to pay a bit more to watch the fight. This of course will only be outside of the UK, Matchroom has a lucrative deal with Sky in the UK, they won't jeopardize that deal. So anything less than the $50-60 bucks US PPV's charge will quite frankly be a bargain in comparison. Imagine Americans you could get PPV's in the US on a streaming service for the same price as in the UK. Imagine paying $30 USD for Joshua/Wilder instead of $60 USD.

Fact is a lot of people watch fights via streams, legal and illegal. This is due to peoples domestic market not airing overseas fights that are of interest to the hardcore boxing fans. A streaming service will allow people to watch good quality legal streams for these fights. The market is clearly their to be exploited.

In fact boxing is likely to be just the first step towards streaming services moving in to sports broadcasting. Fact is Netflix and Amazon are bigger than Sky, HBO and Showtime. They can out bid these old broadcasters and change how we watch sport forever.

imagine moaning about having to pay like £10 a month for something you love. its £10, most people spend that on 1 round of drinks at a pub, or pay at least 3 times that for a whole package of sports they don't even watch just to see the one sport they do watch.
