Ive been posting for over a year here and have noticed a tremendous bias towards Boxers, especially "pure" boxers. I actually cant remember a time when a slugger and swarmer styles were deemed favorites in any of the matchups.

I understand that some psuedo boxing experts propagated this myth that Boxers always win.. I mean you have guys like Pacquiao who cant have a matchup where his swarming style is not at a disadvantage.

I just noticed that lately..no one can seem to match Joan Guzmans style, Mijares will outbox everyone..seems like a fighter like Linares have no room for an argument. I recalled the first Rafa, Izzy fight..It was all Rafa because he was supposed to be the boxer..Now that hes lost twice people now say he didnt box enough.. no one dare say that maybe Izzy didnt let him box..

I mean throughout boxing history, some of the greatest ever are categorized as swarmers or even sluggers..guys like Greb, Armstrong, Marciano, Frazier...Im not saying that these guys dont get credit in these forums but it is very possible that these guys can beat even the greatest boxers..example Frazier over Ali, Marciano over Charles

I think what were confusing here is the level of talent..this detail seemed to have conveniently disappeared when it comes to Boxer vs. Slugger/Swarmer discussion..It really depends on teh skill level of the individual fighters...Heart, determination also plays into a factor. At the end of the day, this is the determining factor it doesnt mater what your style is.

Just recently Pacquiao and JMm had a classic second fight. ESB for the most part have contended all along that JMMs style is a "Nightmare" for Pacquaio, then if that is so why was the bout so close???

For me my preference is a hybrid fighter, most commonly known as a Boxer-Punchers..Arguello, Hearns, RJJ, Duran, McCallum, HAgler and of course the greatest SRR. I feel that this is the best style that can adopt to any other styles but even so they are not unbeatable...Herans was Koed by Barkley if I recall

But from reading some posts here, Youd think the Calderons of the world falls into this (boxer-puncher) category..
I say they fall more into the Cory Spinks category and people here just hype them up like they were any different

Styles matchups (by this I mean the more cliche ones, such as puncher over swarmer, etc) are overrated. It all depends on the quality of the fighter imposing the style.

I started to read what you were saying, but for some reason it wasn't processing... I blame your hot avatar and her athletic natural beauty....:yep
BTW, from what I read I agree to an extent. I see boxer type fighters getting the nod usually here on ESB. BUT, I will NEVER EVER EVER bet on Mali in a fight with anyone. His style is just too ugly for me.

But God Mijares will outbox anybody, stop some brutally in accumulation also. God Mijares defines the word 'supernatural' partaining to boxers.

The only reason you made this thread is because you wish Pac was a Supernatural like Guzman and Mijares.

    And Joe Calzaghe.

    ;)

Mijares allowed himself to look mediocre on film in the past so he could get a big exposure fight as a 'tune up' opponent per say, then use all of his ability and show the world that he's incredible.

God's know how to find a way in a corrupt situation.

Joan is amazing and Mijares P4P H2H is better than the declined Calzaghe of now, in my opinion, Calzaghe is my favourite of all time and I can admit that outright.

Mijares is inspirational to anybody wanting to pick up boxing, his performances will be legendary and the beatings he administer harsh, God Mijares will soon own all.

You need a personal relationship with God, I am afraid.
