So, I finally finished the video project that I've been working on for forever. It might have been done a lot sooner, but there have been a couple of factors that effected things, for example I've been putting in a lot of six day weeks at work lately, (which reduced my time and energy to do this project) and then there was the little incident where I spent a month trying to deal with a major virus on my computer and eventually had to reformat the whole damn thing... fun times. Anyway, enough of my whinging, I hope you guys enjoy. So far I have it posted on youtube (in two parts) and on dailymotion. I'm going to embed the youtube parts, but if you'd like to see it all without the division, (or without the chance that youtube pulls it soon because some company doesn't want me to use one of the pieces of music that I did) I'm also going to include the dailymotion link. Enjoy. :good http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5I8OEnNNMY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HLG0u4Cjyt0 http://www.dailymotion.com/user/TheWandering1/video/xaa3t4_boxing-the-art-of-aggression_sport As always with my video projects, reviews, comments, suggestions for what to do next time or how works could be improved are always welcome.
Really enjoyed that. Took a lot of work and it shows. Great stuff. Couple of observations. 1 - "Relentlessness". Obviously this is very difficult in a video highlight, and you do a good job. IF you are looking at a second tilt, what I would consider is extended highlights. Short clips are the blood of these highlights, I appreciate that, but I think people would sit still for extended clips for this passage. Maybe look at four or five extended passages of relentlessness rather than short clips of fighters most of us know to be relentless? 2 - Your selection of footage is, as always, excellent. But in "Precision", did I miss it, or did you exclude JC Chavez. That ******* could thread a punch through the eye of a needle. 3 - The conclusion is lovely. Really nice touch given all that's happened.
McGrain, first off, as always thanks for the feedback and kind words. Now, to specific points: I'm considering whether to do extended or reworked versions of anything. At the moment it's not in the cards, but it's certainly something I may come back to, or I may work with a theme like this in the future. Right now though I have a couple of ideas I want to tackle for individual profiles that might be easier, and then I've been thinking of doing a companion piece The Art of Defense breaking down defensive moves and tactics. You did miss him, but I don't blame you I only had one short scene with him in precision, and he had his back to the camera. (It's at the bit about 38 seconds in, where he throws a single punch and completely buckles Terrence Alli, after letting Alli fight in hyper mode the whole first round without throwing anything back). It's really not the best footage I could have used there, I was originally going to use the combination he used here just after the 2:30 mark. (By the way, I should warn you if you decide to watch all of this clip or the rest of this match, the whole Showtime crew but especially Ferdie Pacheco tried to fellate Chavez the whole time. It does get a little sickening, even for a Chavez fan like myself). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ATV_S4HCJrQ Anyway, the problem is I originally had planned sections for both combination and body punching as well, so I wound up pulling the combo he hit Jukabowski with out of the precision section putting it in combinations, but then I wound up dropping that bit altogether, and I forgot to restore it.atsch Oh well, what can you do? Thanks, I wasn't quite sure how to wrap everything up at first, but I thought I should pay my respects to all those guys in a small gesture.
Absolutely class once again Wanderer. Seen as though McGrain is pointing something out, the only thing that i thought was going to pop up but didn't was in the 'ruthlessness' bit, Roberto Duran marching across the ring to a helpless Lou Bizzarro and slaying him where he stood. But no complaints whatsoever mate, brilliant vid.
Can i just ask, the music in the precision bit, it's annoying the hell out of me what that is from. I'm sure i've watched a film recently with that in. I know when someone tells me i'm gunna be really pissed off that i didn't get it. But don't let that stop anyone, please help.
And the music right at the end holds a special place in my heart, because when Liverpool signed Fernando Torres i looked him up on youtube and that was the music on the highlight. I ****in luv this thread!
Hey teeto, just logging in quickly before I head off to work (ESB is blocked there these days) that the music is from the Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven. And by the way, I agree that Duran KOing Bizzarro would have been an excellent clip to have there, (and I kinda wish I'd thought of it, despite what I'm going to say next) the only problem with it is that you have to really show what is so ruthless or merciless about it, and in that case that might include having to show the first 2 knockdowns and how completely out of it Bizzarro when Duran put him down at the end. (Seriously, I don't think the guy even knew he was in a boxing ring at that point, and then comes Duran right in his face and is angry after having chased him around for 14 rounds... nasty result). Doing that takes time, and the ruthless section might have been the shortest that I had to work with, as I only had about a minute's worth of music. I could have just put up the KO and maybe a second or two before it and hoped that everyone could pick up on the viciousness of it, but I wanted to make sure everyone absolutely knew what I was trying to say. Thanks for the suggestion though, and I appreciate everything you've had to say, as always!:good
Like i said i knew i would say this but i'll say it anyway- 'how didn't i get that?!', about the music that is. Thanks for replying to me there. It's the bit at the beginning where the text scrolls up the screen telling you about his wife isn't it? And then again at the end. One of my favourite films ever, you have taste my friend. Yeah i know what you mean about having to show Duran mauling him before he delivers the coup de grace. Thanks for replying Wanderer. Hope you do more stuff.
