I posted this on another thread, but for anyone that missed it; http://www.news.com.au/sport/boxing-mma/boxing-the-nations-fastest-growing-sport-says-australian-bureau-of-statistics/story-fndkzthy-1226540663556 Participation up 131% since 2005, and while it may not match participation in the glory days of Australian boxing, it's still good to see the future of the sport looks healthy. Now that we have kids wanting to participate, we just have to fix up all the internal bull**** that goes on so we can nurture and retain the next generation of top Australian fighters.
Boxing needs to be included in schools sports programs. **** water polo and all those other homo sports
Nah it's down to Mandy making millions off PPV , money for old rope , people forget he fought **** all for years and somehow got to fight for a genuine title again , can't fault him i bet he is laughing his bollocks off and can't believe his luck , he ran down from Super middle to Junior middle ducking every serious challenge and ends up fighting for a quarter of the middleweight championship of the world . I would be laughing as well . Kids see this and want a bit of it .
Fixing up the (internal Bull****) Is what really needs to happen if boxing is to become main stream again. It has to start at the grass roots and be implemented through to the top of the Administration side of the sport. Just my humble opinion. I love the sport of boxing and think it deserves to flourish.
kayaking is the explosion in kayak fishing. the shark bicuits are everywhere..... i was told a lot of somalian, indigenous and PI kids have taken up boxing. i dont know if thet has affected numbers? i hope so. i hope also the ams association can get their **** together so we dont lose these kids to MMA and the like.
more like hearns id recon. but they seem to suit basketball and AFL. i was at an AFL meeting the other night, they are starting AFL programmes for 'endangered' kids who are between 16-19yo to get them off their ass and drugs and into sport. the somalis are one targeted culture. also, i saw a programme on tele that was doing the same thing, again with AFL.
