I thought this was truly great breakdown on Floyds fight with Miguel Cotto. Kinda long, if you watch all three. I watched the first one yesterday, and finished the last two earlier on. I think you guys should watch. He get's into really great detail on the way Floyd fought this match. Just wanted to share it with those who haven't seen it yet.

Makes an interesting observation about the way Miguel turns right in the clinch to get his left off but spends most of the time just talking about how great or underrated Floyd is. Stopped watching when he said Floyd could have moved around for 12 rounds but chose not to, there's no way an objective person can believe that. Halfway through the second round, the only other technical point he makes is that Foyd innovated a right hook and "that's greatness." Fast forwarding to the 4th, he's still harping on it. It was impressive but what is the purpose of the video if you barely dissect it?

The dude is silent anytime Cotto lands a body shot on the ropes or claims it all misses.

I'm sure the guy makes good points, I also like how he mentioned Floyd is more aggressive when in the center, but I can't sit through re-watching the whole fight with the guy pausing it and making tangential points every two seconds. I'll skip around and watch the best parts.

Thanks for posting though, trained eyes see subtle things.

I've seen a good number of his videos. Leon showed me them originally. I like his video breaking down Hatton vs Mayweather better.

    This good too

We all have our biases. bogo in the past has sometimes played up Marquez while subconsciously ignoring some of Floyd's intricate techniques.

Back on topic AMSB is the best youtube boxing fight analyst as of now. Saiboxing, the one who made those videos on how Marquez kicked pacquiao's ass is also great, but he has been MIA.

The Mayweather-Cotto series isn't AMSB's best, but he still brings some interesting concepts to light.

What stands out is his talk of head control. Most of us are trained to immediately bring back our hands after striking for protection. These advanced Slick Black fighters instead sometimes leave measuring hands out there to prevent the opponent from getting off. Marquez does this but nowhere near as well. pacquiao barely if ever. I won't bother getting into the rest of these current elite fighters

    One of his better videos.

Boxing fans as a whole are an insecure group who will defensively write something off in its entirety if the video has a bit they don't like.

I need to get this youtube editing business together then create boxing science videos for Mayweather-Judah and Mayweather-Hoya then share it with a select few. No one understands those two fights as well as I do.

I think its interesting that the thought of retirement crossed Floyds mind again after this fight. Mayweather said the fight was so tough, it nearly sent him into retirement. I know this is mostly emotions from after a fight but Cotto really did land some crushing shots to the body and left Floyds face pretty bruised with a knot on the side of his head. Floyd outslugged Cotto and went for the knockout but took a lot of punishment in return and that type of fight will wear on ur body. It wasnt till after this fight that Floyds fans started saying hes too small for 154. I wanna see Floyd win and retire undefeated but id rather see him step outside of his comfort zone and fight the next biggest star in Canelo.

We all have our biases but if I break a fight down I don't ramble about how great one of the fighters is and remain silent on the other.

I like your point about leaving hands out, JMM relies more on his waist movement and parries specific shots forcefully, Floyd has the reach to create distance with outstretched arms more often. Wlad actually does this to great effect as he did in the Haye fight, and Ward often leaves his lead hand out (and Virgil is teaching Khan to also, it's so annoying to get past in a fight). I'm glad referees don't harshly enforce the rule of not leaving the jab out.

point taken. Video maker is quite the Floyd fan and genuinely thinks he's the GOAT. Beyond that, he does a great job at delivering certain concepts by formalizing them with a name. He gives Cotto quite a bit of respect and props as you go into the series.

Yeah he respects Cotto a great deal and calls him a great fighter and praises his presence in the ring as a bull, but my issue isn't so much about any bias or preference as much as the fact that by the middle of round 4 I was just expecting to hear more technical descriptions than how the right hook isn't a punch Floyd usually throws.

Wait till I eventually lose my job/girlfriend/love of playing dance central on the XBOX Kinnect. Then I'll have more time and post quality fight breakdowns which none of you can comprehend

    In the mean time,

Floyd hit Cotto lots, make Miguel do knee dip in 12th.

I don't think it was really a right hook, more like a looping right hand, but thats a minor detail. That would be really annoying if the guys stopped every two seconds. I think if you let people watch like half of the round then break down. Sometimes commentary for a fight is not even needed the fight says enough itself.
