Well, as I jsut turned 50 at the end of 2007, I been experiencing for alittle bit know that my legs are not waht they use to...I still have my power when I am sparring but not for the same amount of rounds as before, past 3 rounds, I can fill my legs starting to dissaper.... So I have deiced to skip road work completely and concentrate in swimming...stationary with bungy cord tied to my waist and rowing....I will see how the elimination of running will affect my stamina..I don;t ecpect it will..but we will see, I need to save my legs!!
\\No luck here, mate..it is a fack of life...no matter in waht great shape you are, which I am, your legs only have so many rounds on them...:tired
Know where your coming from, I'm 41 and no matter how good you look you can't fool mother time. I find my knees hate roadwork, but cycling is fine. Maybe you could try some, stationary or otherwide you might find it easier on the joints.
I been retierd for 3 years or so...My record ended at 15-3-1, with 12 KO, I always had heavy hands....never drop ..cut many times, got a 2 inches gash above my right eye, I still won that one also!! No my problem know is that when I train my younger boxers I like to stay and keep up with them so they see I am doing what they do and get them inspired... Unfortunately, like I said, I need to save my legs!!! Getting old in boxing sucks!!:yep
That cut above your right eye was a pretty good sized one. Could have fooled me that you were getting old though.
my long runs were starting to hurt my knees a bit, so i have bought a bike, did 14 miles today. now my legs feel like they dont belong to me
If you read my initial post, you'll see I am doing just that, in combination with swimming stationary, with a bungy cord attached to my waist, it is hell but it far easier that running or jumping rope...jumping rope is killing my knees, but when I don;t do it I fill guilty as hell...I even have to reduced my sliding around the ring to get my aerobics because they are hurting...
Yea it was, during my fight when it happened I knew that it could be stopped quickly...bad location ..above the eye, and huge, plus as I learned after the fight , it chip the corner of my oculus as well as hairline crack..but won the fight!!!:good
there was this video of randy couture training, he doesn't do any road work because of his knee but he goes to a trampoline room and just jumps all over the place.
Trampolins are cool, I just get see sick really quick....:rofl ..not my style...if you see my point!!
