Boxing Tribune Article on Bowe vs Lyle

Honestly i could see this happening. Bowe is the most overrated superheavyweight and an underachiever with only 1 ATG on his resume despite living in an era full of great fighters. The fact 6'2 buffed up cruiserweight holyfield gave him hell and even dropped him means Lyl at his best would give him all he coyld handle.

Bowe lacked discipline, lacked defense, lacked true 1 punch power (didnt hit as hard as shavers) and gave up his height advantage fighting up close. This isnt a good recipe against Lyle whose constantly aggressive and hits hard.

On the flip side, if Bowr fights smart i could definitely see him outboxing Lyle. He has the tools and the skill. Problem is, he is often willing to brawl.

 

My post insinuated if Bowe is at his best, in shape, and following Futch's instructions probably wins more often than not.

Thats a big if tho. Does he celebrate after the weigh-in by eating a bucket of chicken? Is Futch alive and did he actually follow his instructions in camp? Is he doing weird stuff like kidnapping his own wife?

If any of these factors are there, it could be bad news. Lyle wasnt the most skilled, but he was always in shape and always game and ready to put on the hurt. Im not even sayin i favor lyle, its just that the article makes a good point that bowe had a very poor resume aside from hoyfield. He didnt go through nearly as many wars as lyle, had poor defense, and was willing to brawl and fight up close even when he had the advantage in height/reach/skill etc. I just think its a horrible clash of syles/mentalities.
