boxing under seige in the bush

    had a boxing tournament and a mma cage rage in the isa on at the same time different venues last saturday night , ticket prices 20 bananas for the boxing 25 bucks for the mma . 17 fights at the boxing 8 fights for the mma . crowds were boxing 120 hardcore oldtimers at a 500 seat stadium , mma got 600 young punters at a full house . devils tournaments here 15 years ago had full houses at the irish beer hall of 2000 and open air oval crowds of 2500. young fellas dont wanta talk boxing anymore at the mines unless its mma , competitive fights and less holding , much less holding would make a big differance , need judges to start penalising excessive holding .

    ..that's just plain ridiculous that both sports go head to head like that in Mt Isa...all the way out there they need to be supporting each other...

    where is the medical association? where are all the hairy legged lesos and poofs, and their green party on this?

    bashing an unconcious fighter while deadshits scream for murder IS NOT A SPORT.

    BAN MMA. ITS A DISGUSTING, BRUTAL, MINDLESS FORMAT THAT ATTRACTS PSYCOS AND SLOBS.

    Agree entirely Dark..............can't understand the mentality of 2 fighting codes going up against one another in a country town. A mate up here in Emerald runs a few boxing shows & puts the occassional mma fight on the card to keep everyone happy. Always a top night.

    Stop playing with ya noodle Sally, MMA has much the same control and safety rules that boxing has.
    It's just a different type of combat sport.

    I'm not even sure why boxing fans don't like it :huh, it's just more of the same, using most of your body rather than just punching.

    Both sports have **** fights, and both sports have exceptional fights.

    doesn't make sense.

    half of a mma fight is on the ground with both guys locked in arms trying to free themselves to unload on the other.

    half the time it is UTTER BORING IMO.

    I am a fan of both sports and don't intend getting caught up in a boxing is better than MMA argument. But having the two sports go head to head on the same night was just plain stupid. Why cut each other's throats? Separate nights would have much more sense.

    crap. when was the last time an unconcious boxer was repeatedly smashed in the face with an elbow while lying prostrate on the canvas?

    mma isnt a sport. its legal assalt.

    Is it just me or does anyone else cringe when the commentators get really excited when calling a '' A full mount from the rear''. :oops:
