Imo boxing is the more skilled sport. You're basically ****ed since its limited to punching. MMA however has more diversity in ways to exploit your opponents weakness and play to your strengths. Say we take Money May the world greatest boxer and he would be easily outclassed against Buakaw. So if boxing is more skilled in this sense what does that make MMA? I train Jui jitsu and have heard amateur mma guys say MMA is the most difficult sport of all time. To which I somewhat agree, but which sport is more difficult?
The problem with Jui Jitsu is that a straight man, won't engage in that type of activity. Personally, I find rollin around with another sweaty man who has his legs wrapped around me to be repulsive and disgusting. I would never pay a man to wrap his legs around me It's just disgusting.... I really have no other word. To me, boxing is how real dudes do it. If you ain't scared, you ain't got to grab on like homosexual. You throws your hands, and if you drop someone and they quit, you walk away. You ain't got pull on their dick, or wrap your legs around their head with your dick on a guy's face. To be honest, I can't blame someone if they stabbed you in the side with a knife. They should be able to stab the **** outta you. it's a quick neutralizer. I for one ain't gonna roll around with a sweaty dude, so if I ever find myself in that position, prepare to get stuck in the side. MMA is the decathlon of combat sports. Its for martial artist who are not quite good enough to specialise in any one code. boxing is a specialist code. You are not going to ever get a decathlon athlete who runs 100 metres in the decathlon event winning the real Olympic gold at 100 meters. MMA fans love to talk about how boxers cant beat MMA champions at MMA. They never say the MMA champion beats the boxing champ at boxing ---AND THEY ARE VERY WISE NEVER TO SAY SO!
Why are people always saying "oh MMA is gay it's nothing but men rolling around on the floor". Its called a real fight. I dont even watch MMA and prefer boxing by far, but if you think mma takes no talent your a moron. There is so many things you have to worry about in MMA
Did you ever notice how many boxers there are that never master all that can be done with just two hands and a few basic punches? Does being able to kick, use knees, elbows and wrestle really mean more options? Or is it just a whole bunch more stuff never to get quite right?
An its funny people say mma fighter cant strike. They wear tiny gloves, they dont have the priviledge of having pillow sized gloves to shield themselves. Thats why they look more wreckless trading punches with eachother. I hate the "in a street fight arguments" But mma fighter would be more affective strikers in a scrap. Deal with it
You can't beat a man at his own game. A straight up boxer will not do well in the octagon and an MMA fighter wouldn't not do well in the ring. Buakaw would win in the octagon and Maywethar would smoke him in the ring. Boxing is the best striking martial arts style. Boxers hit harder,faster and more accurate. And boxers fight for 10-12 rounds and they have to use only punches within the rules of the sport which makes boxing far harder more difficult. In boxing you have to be prepared to take a sustained amount of punishment to be elite. A BJJ fighter is a ground fighter and would be absolutely killed in the boxing ring. Contrary to popular belief,Brazilian Jiu Jitsu IS NOT the best martial art or even unbeatable. If a boxer lands that one good shot,it's all over for most men. That being said,we have room for both. If we have chess and checkers,football and baseball,we can have boxing and MMA.

In a street fight and in a ring,it dont matter. Boxing is great for real life self defense also. In a street fight,you cant choose to go to the ground unless you want to get stomped out. The ground is the worst place to be in a street fight. Boxers have plenty to defend themselves with in a real fight too. So that argument is stupid. I'm a Kenpo Practitioner and a boxer and street fights usually are 30 seconds long and end with just a few techniques.
