Are you saying MMA is more real? Are you saying MMA is not a sport? In a fight you want to win. In a sport you want to win. Do you want to win less if it is a sport? Either way sport is suposed to be fair, its harder to win if it is fair wouldnt you say? In MMA there are rules too you have a reff to protect you just like in boxing. You have weight classes and set rounds etc on the street you dont. Both are as real as you can get. Are untrained street fighters who get to jump people who are not ready, where small vs big, man vs woman and the use of weapons on each other is the norm produce more "real" combat or fighters who are better at MMA or boxing than Mixed martial artist and real boxers? I think not.
The fact that there are no rules in a true contest isn't negligible, though: It makes the argument pointless, because it renders everything moot. The dirtiest, angriest guy wins a street fight. Whether he happens to be a boxer or an MMA fighter, it matters not even a smidge, as neither sport is actual fighting. Actual fighting is trying to gouge a fellows eyes out, going for testicular shots, fish hooks, rabbit punches, etc. Nowadays, we bring weapons into it. Fighting on the street, at the bar, is an idiots passtime, because it simply people settling their differences like the cavemen used to do it: Devoid of reason, honor, or purpose. Sports are honorable. MMA practitioners and boxers are honorable. Bar room brawlers are not, and that is another huge difference. Worst ass whipping I've ever seen delivered was a Golden Gloves champ in Chicago getting melted like butter by some factory worker. Uppercut to the groin, shot to the back of the head, bottle to the face. Over. On the other side of the coin, the two could fight and nothing at all could happen. The boxer boxes on retreat pawing jabs and the MMA fighter tries to set up a takedown that isn't there. They get bored and return to their drinks after a minute or so.
:good exactly. MMA fans like to say MMA is a "real fight" its not, it is a combat sport for those who cannot master one code of combat enough to specialise in it. As you say a street fight is nothing to boast about anyway.
Your talking nonsense, nobody punches more harder or effective as the elite boxers, even MMA fighters acknowledge, that they can't compare in that department, and that it would be extremely stupid to ever stand and think they could stand and trade with a boxer even in MMA fight, your living in a fantasy world if you think that boxing does'nt work in a real fight. boxing came from wreslters and raw form of prizefighting...its the refined version of such. the rules where adpated to create a better match. feel free to enjoy mma. i can understand and have seen some great matches and can understand it's appeal but with the better fighters nowadays actually staying on thier feet and boxing using thier height and rech to keep other guys at bay. all i see is a crude form of what boxing once was. nyways yous a torlll dusyanknow?
Man, I'm just messin around with the side stickin, but they are two different sports. And I'm just messin around with the jui jitsu, but I am honest when I personaly would not do it. It is true though that the difference in punching power between the two is negligable, but I do agree that boxing gloves are better at blocking punches. There are certain styles that would likely be less effective if they had smaller gloves. Ironically to some, Mayweather's style would adapt very well to this style of fighting, especially in conjunction with his speed. But clown gloves they are not, but at the same time jui jitsu is very dangerous, and I acknowledge that, but damn man, it's cheatin because you can't work on it by yourself. You know what I'm sayin? I suppose you could do it with your girl, ****, to be honest, I wouldn't mind teachin that to my girl because women got to do what they got to do to win a fight. But people shouldn'g be fightin on the street at all anyway, and man, to be honest, I don't even like the fact that I like these sports. I do watch MMA sometimes. I thought Dos Santos had Overeem's number, but I don't get down with the wrestling because I think in a lot of ways it's cheating. Now American wrestling, I don't really have a problem with and it's alright because they're not tryin to break your bones and ****, it's still a fair fight. Both men can walk away, but that other thing, man, I just don't agree with it. There is an honor code in fighting and we are going in reverse. You think people back from the day they chopped heads off weren't down to fight? Man, people used to stomp people's eyeballs out. That **** is terrible. The situation with boxing is that it evolved out of that into a honorable way to scrap and then walk away, but you still had to be serious if you wanted to get down with it. I mean, it's not something to play with, and fighting period isn't something to play with. It's about peace and harmony and getting along as a people. And with this breakin bones and maimin people, and even boxing to be honest keeps us at eachother.
Boxers are way braver because the sport so much more dangerous than MMA. In most boxing matches, the winner takes more power shots to the head than the average MMA fighter takes in his whole career. In my preference, I find MMA to be very boring. Maybe I am just not really educated on the sport, but the ground game makes no sense to me. The scoring? Who knows.
I also don't agree with the sittin on top of someone with your weight and rainin punches on them. That's ****ed up. It maybe 50/50 who rolls on top, but to bomb a defenseless opponent? I don't know. I guess it is what it is.
I can give a good detailed answer but I dont want to. **** MMA and the homoerotic hugging that goes along with it. This is a boxing site now **** off.
Most of what you say here is damn sound. We box for different reasons then we fight, and very rarely do we even dislike our opponents, honestly. Its an art we've studied and mastered, and we're pitting ourselves as athletes and practicioners against one another for pay. We want to win, but our need to win isn't primal, as it would be if the guy has a sword in ancient times; We want to win because losing means you make less money. End of story. And I'm with you on attacking a helpless opponent. I myself couldn't do it. Part of what I love about boxing is getting off the guy when he falls down. If he can't get up, the fight is over, but I don't need to follow him down to ensure it. That's just me personally. I bet I'd have a different perspective if I killed somebody in the ring. Thankfully, 90% of my fights end before I can do serious harm, and the ones I've lost, feel like nobody actually punched anybody much. I've been very, very fortunate in being spared the brutality that boxing brings in spades. Make no mistake: Professional prizefighting under Queensbury rules is the most dangerous thing a man can do and call it sport, short of taking on a pissed off lion with a bow and arrow. Its more difficult and more dangerous than MMA, because its harder to finish a foe, and more punishment is required to do so. Add that we fight 300% as long to that equation, and you wonder why we subject ourselves to it in the first place, sometimes.
Buakaw is a Muay Thai fighter who went into K-1 kickboxing moron, he never fought in any sort of MMA or a cage He would destroy any mma fighter standing
I believe that except 4 a few embarassing 1st rd stoppages , which happen in boxing vs boxing anyway , MMA would prevail . And Floyd is not even d greatest/best boxer available 2day .
