here's a very mean experience....Ignashov vs King arthur williams. Pro boxer vs pro muay thai fighter. I guess most will find this ridiculous and kinda mean but afterall , no one forced arthur to accept the fight...and he knew the rules too. Sport vs sport. Arthur was only allowed to beat Ignashov with boxing moves (obviously since he's a pro boxer) and Ignashov was allowed to pull his usual ****...(muay thai) and the result was embarrassing... [yt]elVc6UmHLgw[/yt] Now , what if arthur woulda been allowed to also kick his opponent ? Would have things been a little bit different ?...Who knows.... But keep in mind that a prime Ignashov used to annihilate other top kickboxers / muay thai fighters...
Of course it would not have made a difference. The only reason that Arthur wasn't allowed to kick is because he chose to wear those boxing shoes. I am sure that he knew his kicks would be worthless and felt more comfortable wearing the shoes for traction. I love boxing, but I have been telling people on here for years that they need to get a grip on reality as to how boxers would not only fair in MMA, but how they would be destroyed in a striking match against good Muay Thai fighters as well. Boxing is too limited. Not only are boxers not the best fighters in the world, not even close... but they aren't even the best strikers in the world. However, they ARE the best boxers in the world, I don't know why that isn't good enough for most boxing fans. They want to live in a fantasy world.
Ignashov pisses me off so much. If he wasn't a giant lazy turd he could be one of the greatest of all time.
I wonder how Ignashov or Sergei Kharitonov could do as pro boxers? Sergei Kharitonov is a pretty good amatuer boxer. You can obviously see Ignashov is good striker. Vitali Klitschko acctually started fighting as a kickboxer and progressed to boxing.
after being down with the second leg kick he had a look on his face like What the **** did i get myself into. plus he's lucky to be alive after that head kick missing by a 1/4 inch or so.
i suppose even if arthur knew how to defend against those kicks, his shins wouldn't be conditioned and he'd still go down. sport vs sport debates are silly...especially boxing fans who think their favourite boxer can go off and fight successully in say MMA. muaythai (with full thai rules) is the most effective striking combat there is.
