I cant believe this sh%t. How the hell can you guys say this was a proper example of boxing vs mauy thai? This guy williams is ranked 113 in the cruisweight division in boxing and has a crap load of losses on his record and he gets put up against one of the best in his debute kickboxing fight. Lennox lewis woulda brutally smashed this guy in half the time iggy took to do it considering he weighs 50 pounds more and there is also a MASSIVE difference between being ranked number one in boxing to 113. People are trying to take this sh*t and make it into something its not just cause they are bloody biased to one sport. People try and make bothas experience in K1 out to be proof that boxers cant compete in kickboxing but I think it proves they can be highly succecful simply cause in his prime he got tore up something shocking by lennnox and knocked the **** out in the second round yet past his best in kickboxing when he could no longer complete at the higher levels of boxing, kickboxers couldnt get him out of there after 3 rounds. Im into all 3 sports pretty much equally but all this bias crap clouds peoples judgment. I am not saying a boxer can come into kickboxing and whoop everyones arse but they can certainly compete at least. You will only see low level boxers or has beens in K1 or MMA simply cause a high level boxer makes way more money while fighting in his element so it will be a rare occurance for a good one to make the crossover. I good athlete boxer whos not a dumb arse will also prepare themselves alot better than these guys that have come across so far In aus there seems to be a bit of respect and cross over between boxing and kickboxing. Alot of kickboxers relize the value of good hand skills. A experienced guy who I have sparred with started out as a kickboxer and changed to boxing when he "relized how much better boxers were" . I dont agree with that comment but ive got similer impressions from talking to other people. There are different sides to the story out there. The majority of hardcore boxing fans dont even know who the f*ck this williams guys is. If they put a no name cruiserweight kickboxer against iggy there would be a similer result
Has anyone seen Rob Kamen's "retirement fight" against Ignashov? Shows how great Kamen really was to be able to hang with the younger, stronger, and skilled fighter Ignashov. Yes, leg kicks hurt like a sumbitch when someone who knows how to put their hips into it kicks you. It's a whole new word of pain. These style vs style match ups often fail to live up to any kind of hype. One of the best showings by any boxer I've seen against a top kickboxer was when Botha fought Bonjansky back in 2004. That was a classic fight.
