Yeah the UFC is only one MMA organisation , say if they were to get as popular as boxing each MMA company would have bidding wars for the top fighters or would have to co-operate , or not - much like our WBC/WBA/IBF! Same thing happened in wrestling - the WWE bought out WCW eventually to stop ' wrestlers ' jumping ship. MMA future wont be that simple. It has yet to evolve and establish.
How will MMA suffer under UFC? UFC under Dana White has brought MMA to its current popularity. MMA needs UFC. MMA is safer and less punishing than boxing. How many deaths and life threating injuries have there been in UFC? None so far. Compare that to the injuries sustained by fighters in Boxing. Boxing is the tougher and more dangerous of the two. UFC just looks dangerous and brutal.
i find martial arts very interesting, but mma (particularly the ufc) has more in common with schoolyard brawling than anything from a martial arts system. apparently a great deal of people enjoy that, but then again, a large number of "boxing fans" are bored out of their minds when watching a technical boxer like winky wright because they would rather get straight to the knockout punch.
And how long has boxing been going compared to MMA? And how many fights happen every week in boxing, worldwide, compared to MMA? :blood
MMA has proven that the vast majority of martial arts are bogus and would never work in real life situations. That 'schoolyard brawling' is effective styles of martial arts used to win fights and would work in real life.
yeah, because less than 25 years of "scientific study" by mma completely disproves generations of development of martial arts. i'm sure that bruce lee would easily succumb to some "ground and pound" because obviously, martial arts are bogus.
Cheers, I'm glad you saw sense. And its actually only about 15 years of MMA as we know it. But I suppose we could throw in a bit of Brazillian Vale Tudo to stretch it to 25. Yup, thats right. Well, we are in agreement. No point in arguing then!
Yes it is effective, but don't give me that real life B.S. MMA and it's ilk is nothing like a real life fighting. In real life, it isn't always one on one and nobody in this day and age would ever walk around with a knife (note sarcasm). Other martial arts are much more effective against multiple opponents compared to the grappling arts.
yeah, no point in arguing that bruce lee would get his ass handed to him in a street fight with matt hughes. cause obviously, all the intelligent, emoticon happy pundits on this site know the truth: all asian martial arts are frauds, less than 20 years of televised sports definitively proves that hundreds of years of kung-fu, karate, kali, and literally any other martial arts system are useless when compared to the mighty "ground and pound".
